end of my hurricane holiday

First, I would like to thank all of my wonderful friends who left messages on my cell phone concerned of my whereabouts. Megan and I fled Monday night to New Roads to escape the traffic that was jammed up I-10, all four lanes (only a two-lane highway) going north. We, however, had no traffic at all and arrived safely with a little less than 3/4 of a tank of gas still in el jeepo.

Ivan the terrible was slated for an appearance last night around the sleeping hours, but the most we felt of the storm was some vigorous chiming and noisy gusts outside the window. And noot a drop of rain. We still slept just fine, except that perhaps I was a tad hot.

Residence halls are not supposed to open until Saturday at 2 p.m., but they are bringing back the poor kids who had to evacuate on Tulane buses to Jackson State University tomorrow night. Therefore, I think Megan and I will try to sneak back into our rooms tomorrow night as well. We don't have a front desk, so I really don't foresee any problems.

So, we have had a relaxing few days here on our Hurricane Holiday and unlike many others who were given the same vacation, we are not suffering from hangovers. We were able to help my grandmother a bit around the house and we celebrated my great aunt Nava Jo's 76th birthday in the nursing home this afternoon.

I apologize for not calling you Ashley, Erin, Ada, and Lee, but as I'm sure I've told you before, the Verizon service here is crap. I will try to make calls to all of you this weekend.
I hope everyone else has had as lovely a week as I, and that Ivan doesn't decide to blow your way(s)!
