Friday: Get off work late! Run home, shower, run over to meet
tophatter2 and his friend. We head straight over to Goose Island, neet up with another person, hang out for a few hours, and hit the Buffy Sing-a-long, which was more enjoyable than I was led to believe it would be, perhaps because my prepartying was fairly moderate. Drive home, put
tophatter2 on the couch, pass out around 2:30 on...
Saturday: Get up at 7:00! Yes, I'm insane. Wake up
tophatter2 , worry slightly about the state of the bathroom. (dear roomie
foofyattorneydoesn't seem to worry about this. Is this because his guests already assume that the place won't be clean? I am just overanxious? DR genuinely doesn't care?) The Buffy group meets up at Orange, where I learn there's a new, third location at Damen and Roscoe. It's nearer to me! But I know the waitresses on Belmont! To the point where we got free fruishi for the table! Oh, consternation. Say goodbye to the crazy Michiganers (they had to catch a 4pm Tigers game), and head downtown (a block from the other Orange, actually).
At 10:30 am, there was a reading/party for the new book from 826CHI,
A Sunday Afternoon Hotdog Meal. The book is all about Chicago, and is written by 205 second through sixth graders. Twenty of them read at the shindig, and it was utterly adorable. I encourage you all to purchase the book! I insist we have a field trip to the spy store soon! Who's with me?
Spotted at the event: Joe Meno, who I only ID'ed because I've seen him elsewhere. He wasn't making himself known, he just came in to watch the kids, which really just makes me like Joe Meno that much more. Buy his books, too! They are warm and funny and available at Border's!
After 826, Mr. Z and I walked around the book fair with his friend Shrec and Shrec's mom and gf. The Schrec-mom is completely awesome and funny, and told me to eat my probiotics to help alleviate my allergies. I ran into
mrvoid briefly, wandered over to Loopy, eventually decided to buy... NOTHING (shocking, I know), and then headed back to Mr. Z's for a nice, long nap. Seriously. 3.5 hours. After that, Green Zebra! Love that place. I'd alternate between there and Lula's for every dinner, if I could. Plus, Green Zebra now has brunch. Most exciting.
Sunday: Late wakeup (well, if you consider 9 on the late side, which I do). Go to HP to eat lunch/say goodbye to
aliste &
wallacecat . I manage to forget to give
myamphigory her copy of the 69LS 33 1/3 book for the bajillionth time in a row, despite having it in my bag. Take the slowest train ever back home, wash up, and see the last House Theatre production of the year, Hope Springs Infernal. This is also recommended! The House is great! Mr. Z and I both get season tix for next year; since he won't be using my discount ticket again, this means some of you other folks can come along to see the shows at a reduced rate.
Enough about the weekend, here's a recent exchange had via gmail chat:
me: I know I still have a ton of Bacardi Limon... undergrads sadly didn't consume much of it.
me: I mean, what good are undergrads if they won't suck down your lowgrade booze?
roomie: piece of meat for sexual explotation?
roomie: that's what i use them for
In other news, Happy Birthday to Mr. Z! Congrats on being older than the standard college graduate. I will enjoy these four months of the year where I am only four years older than you.
