Random things.
-I do not understand why there's an "English version" of Os Mutantes' Bat Macumba when there are no lyrics changes. The lyrics consist of "Bat Macumba" and "ay, ay, ay" and "ah oh ah". And yet, there is.
-Because there's water main work going on, I will be without a ceiling for most of today. The entire bottom half of the building (including our office) will be without water, and thus functioning toilets. I will be heading to Nordstrom several times today, I foresee. Also, they're putting in a kitchen suite in my office, so it's really loud. Best workplace environment ever!
-Tonight: The National! Tomorrow: Hanging with GZ and watching some Buffy at Music Box! Saturday: 826 at the book fair in the morning! Maybe the farmer's market before that! Maybe a knitting party in the evening? I don't know. Sunday: House Theatre! And the Sopranos finale! So much for those easy weekends.
-Strange happenings: I was suppose to lunch with
thewhitephoenix yesterday, but scheduling didn't work out (as I found out when we talked on the phone while I was walking to lunch, oops). Fast forward--I'm getting off the bus near my apartment. Another woman gets off at the same time, and we make small talk about the non-law-abiding police car blocking the intersection. She then starts walking faster than me, and I see
thewhitephoenix's name on a piece of paper sticking out of her backpack, along with a phone number. I check my cell phone, and it's his. So I yell out, "Excuse me, do you know [
thewhitephoenix's real name]?". Turns out she works with him, and heard our phone conversation earlier. Exceedingly strange. (A related story that about two people will get - I then returned to my apartment, where the TV was just on with nobody watching it, to find a family named "Klopfenstein" on Family Feud, and spent awhile trying to find out if they were from Indiana. No luck.)
