Man, I've been dead most of the day. Fuck you, self. I told myself not to leave the line animation 'til three in the morning, and then I did it anyway. It wasn't even a matter of losing track of time! I kept looking at the clock and going "I should get started on that." And then it was six and I was flailing away at the last pages going "Fuck you, soft pencil! Stop going dull and making my lines thick." *facepalm*
But despite that and the shortness of the thing, and the fact that I forgot tracebacks should all be traced from the original, it turned out pretty damn well, even the splash. I ran them all through the camera in an hour, added a couple last frames and smiled as I saved it and swanned off to lunch.
By the way, I've been asked this a couple times. Where does the expression 'to swan' come from, and does it imply flailing or graceful movement or what? Help me, LJ friends!
(Oh yeah, 'case I didn't make it clear, 1.5 hours of sleep. But I got a lot of other things done yesterday, so I count this as solid.)
Anyway, the point of today's entry.
I think I earned some major Pirate points in the trunk room yesterday. I was on the clean-out shift, and the policy was that if people left their stuff down there, it was up for grabs, otherwise it was donated to charity. I felt bad about it - how would I like it if people made off with my stuff - but people apparently have made off with my stuff, and if a fuss is kicked, I'll give the stuff back. I'm a pushover like that. So ANYWAY :3
There was a fridge belonging to someone who graduated before I came here; I can has.
There was a nice big green sled; I can has and modify into a boffing shield.
There was a box with a power strip, ethernet cable, towel and big honking scanner; I can has. Need to see if it works.
There were also various knick-knacks, weird perfume and clothes might make good game props and costumes. You never know ^_^ Hopefully I'll be able to go through some of it with the GMs.
And, last one but not least, I found a couple pairs of knitting needles, and a 2' by 2' by 3' box (as well as a slightly smaller bag) stuffed. full. of. YARN. And it's good yarn, even I can tell that. I know nothing about knitting, but I know people who do.
So HEY
ocelotofdoom! Hey,
arin_rowan! Hey,
phantomcranefly!
tigerlofu,
actourdreams you knit, right? And any knitters on my f-list I missed: Do You Want Some Yarn? Yes, most of you are far away, but I can hold on to it for you or send it or we can work something out. I've started going through this and it's a huge fucking trove of solid colors, multicolors, skeins, balls, what I think is cashmere, crimped yarn, fuzzy yarn, half-finished projects that Roomie says might have become a quilt in another life.
I'm not a knitter, so it may not be as impressive as I make it out to be, But it's a lot and unless I'm underestimating knitters (which I very well may be), I think this is enough to go around for a large number of people. I hope it is, since I've been telling everyone about it ^^;
The girl whom the box belonged to graduated my first year - she's not coming back to claim it. If she amassed this much, she probably just moved on and bought more. And this stuff's not moldering in the basement anymore. Good things, yes?
I plan to offer it up to SSFFSians at the meeting on Friday, and whatever's left will go to my mum's group. So if there's something specific you're looking for, tell me. I can send pictures.
Foooo. So there's that. Also my dad's working out an Ubuntu virtual machine I can do photos on. Things are looking up.
To do tomorrow:
- print out or go to the registrar and pick up another Free Drop sheet, because I forgot the first one at UMass. Dumb XP
- meet Sensei for the drop sheet.
- crash Adviser's drop in hours.
- read up on courses for Spring and Interim
- go through everything, including the yarn. maybe clean my space too.
- hit the mall if I have time. I want new damn shoes!
- and of course do homework.
And that is a minute before midnight, Nov 2. Woo hoo.
