What a week!

Sorry for the lack of updates.  I've just been so bored with the internet for a couple weeks now.  I haven't even turned on AIM much.

Well, last week was Teacher Appreciation week and the school went all out.  We had a baked potato bar lunch on Monday, yogurt bar for breakfast on Tuesday, subs from Jersey Mikes on Wednesday, extended lunch from PTA on Thursday (we got 30extra minutes of lunch while someone covered our class), and cinnamon buns/fruits for breakfast along with chips and snacks on Friday.  Friday was also field day, but more on that in a little bit.  I got a couple gifts from students.  One 1st grade girl gave me some flowers for my non-existent garden along with notecards & a pad of paper.  A 4th grade girl gave me a beautiful white begonia.  Another 1st grade girl gave me a pink and black clipboard with a big letter L on it and a 5th grade boy gave me a small bag of goodies including a gift card to Texas Roadhouse (which I really like).  Plus, I won a gift card to Riverbound cafe for dinner from the school.  Never been, but I hear the food is really good.

Field Day was on Friday and it was gorgeous out!  Normally, they have it in June and it's 90* or more.  But with it being the beginning of May, it was only 73*.  The kids seemed to have fun, but we had the usual problems with teachers.  Our P.E. teacher gave out a packet with specific directions for the day.  They told teachers where they needed to go and how to play each of the games.  All they had to do was read the packet and follow the directions.  Did they? Nope.  K-2 was fine.  They did like they were supposed to and it went well.  But 3-5 did nothing right.  Teachers did read, they went to the wrong stations, they purposefully went through the wrong doors...  I wound up not doing the job I was assigned, but running the station instead.  The kids played Tic-Tac-Toe basketball.  Each kid shoots the ball into the hoop and if they get it, the go to the tic-tac-toe board and make either and X or O with their arms.  The kids keep playing until someone wins.  It was really fun and I had a blast playing with the kids.  Julie (the P.E. teacher) managed to not overexert herself (she's 8mths pregnant) but didn't eat lunch.  She was too busy changing out stations with games.  I didn't either, but it's not a problem for me.

So I  called my mom for mother's day today (plus it's Sunday and I always call on Sundays).  I wasn't expecting a good conversation as she had to transfer money from our joint account (for paying off loans) to my checking account because I ended up being overdrawn.  We ended up having a good chat and she didn't bring it up once.  They're going to Florida for vacation next week and randomly asked me if I wanted to fly down for the weekend.  Umm what?  You all don't know my mother, but once she gets her mind set on something, she does it.  So she started looking up airfare.  Found a round-trip flight from RIC to Orlando.  So I'm leaving here Friday at 5:30pm and getting to Florida at 7:30pm.  I'll leave there on Sunday and be back here by 5pm.  Wow.  So... I'm excited.  Then she said that maybe we'll go to Universal to HARRY POTTER WORLD! OMG!  That seriously is so exciting.  It is so going to get me through the week.  Of course, when I told Aaron, his first comment is "What about me?"  He has a reenactment thing this weekend, which is the only reason my mom suggested I fly down.  So I told him I'd buy him something really good from HP world.

Wow.  Now this week is going to suck because I have to start group rehearsals for my Kindergarten musical.  We're having full rehearsals Thursday and Friday from 1:45-2:15.  Wish me luck!
