"rent"
it's time for yet another ssc: i just listened to all of "rent" for the first time.
i bought the CD in for one song ("seasons of love"). i've heard some other songs at showtune night at sidetracks. i sort of know the story and i know about the whole "did they steal the idea from sarah schulman?" controversy. i know enough about the source material to know that they made a substantial change in the ending from said source material. but i had never heard it. it's not bad--rather operatic, of all things--not in the actual songs but in the structure.
now i kind of want to watch the movie. especially since apparently they kept idina menzel as maureen....
