I really enjoyed that series. epi_lj started reading the first book to me while we were on a road trip (I was the only driver; we were taking my car and he doesn't drive stick). When we got back, we hadn't quite finished the story, and I pretty much marched him to the couch and demanded he finish reading it to me. :)

It's been a while since I read it now, and I can't remember my objection, but I recall having found that book really weak when I read it. I only continued reading the series because I'd already read Zoe's Tale, so I knew that it eventually got back to being a series I really liked. In the end, I concluded that I enjoyed all the books in the series except that one.

well it doesn't have john perry as a point of view character and the narrative voice is third person--maybe you liked that a lot less?
