And the Ice Is Gone Again
The ice of the last storm is nearly all gone, but with Indiana weather it may not be the last. Although instinctively, I believe the last of the major winter storms have passed, and the rest will be weakened by the coming Spring. As much as instincts are guesses, they have higher chances to be right than a random guess, which is why you should not change an answer on a test, unless you are positive it is wrong.
Over the week, I remembered another one of my story ideas.
The muse for this story is the 2 part episode of Star Trek: Voyager, "Year of Hell," an episode dealing with affects on time. The story takes place on a large world comparable to modern day technology mixed with magic and has several dominant races. Of these dominant races, one race is dominant over the other races, with leads to underground movements in the other races to conquer the most dominant race. At the time I had the story, I did not have an idea for the races in concrete. Right now, the most dominant race is an evolved race of dragons, and the other races have humans included.
The plot of the story involves the main character being of the most dominant race, and he is out to stop a handful of people from accomplishing their goals to weaken his race. Their new plot is to travel back in time and weaken the species. This is the first successful attempt to travel in time, which is part of the background of the plot. On this world, there are several theories of the affects of altering the past. This story does not use parallel universes but as a theory. Instead, the small group manages to go back in time and alter it while the main character is right outside the time portal in the modern day. Due to his proximity, the main character and the ones that went back in time are made chronologically persistent. When the time line is altered, they will still exist without modification, somewhat a paradox in existence. The overall effect, the most dominant race never existed, leaving the main character that will exist through the paradox shift as the only creature of that dominant race alive on the planet. The final part to the idea, there is no way to repair the damage done in time.
I believe this story idea is truly unique even though time travel stories are not.
