If you haven't already heard...
Boston's Restaurant Week deals run March 9-21, excluding March 15. Restaurant Week is a great, affordable way to try restaurants that you wouldn't ordinarily be able to get into or pay for. The menus are price fixe, but the options are typically varied and intended to show off the house specialties. Last year in Philadelphia,
oh_chris and I managed to score a meal at the Melting Pot for $60 plus tip, which is far less than the standard $100+. (I think our dinner would have cost about $120.)
The website does have a list of participating restaurants, or you can search by neighborhood.
