oops
well, i had my alarm set for our game yesterday, but fell asleep last night without adjusting it for church today. so, i've got some extra time to waste. and since these blogs are usually a waste, it logically follows.
i am now in excess of a year and a half in deutschland.
the weather here has been cold, but apparently better than in ms. it's supposed to be up to 10 later today. we're getting there. very slowly.
my crock pot first go was ... decent, but could have been better. i think a combination of cooking too long and perhaps a bit more liquid. the problem is, i work 9's, throw in a lunch and commute, and the minimum cooking time is about 10 hours. i did have a boring class that day, so it was nice to come home to a hot meal. on the whole, i'd generally classify round one as a success.
played our third game yesterday. after an offensive explosion we were losing 2-0 at the end of one quarter, but thanks to great coaching they turned it on and won going away, 33-22. we're 3-0.
also went to the sv wehen - eintracht frankfurt match yesterday in wiesbaden. just an exhibition before the bundesliga (finally) gets back underway next week, tickets were only 7 €. eintracht won 2:0. i like both, had a good time. and got home in enough time to watch arsenal put the finishing touches on a 3-0 fa cup victory.
i try to buy a team scarf when i visit a match. at first, it was just an arsenal scarf (from the champions league match we attended in london at the emirates. just had to throw that in there.). add in the fc barca scarf from last weekend and it's over $100 worth. i barely even wear scarves. maybe i should nip this in the bud now.
i have a birthday coming up before too long now. 25 years. as i rack my mind for presents, nothing more than a can opener comes to mind. i must be getting old.
so, next weekend is not only my birthday, and not only also my friday off, but also carnival as well. i'm contemplating going to köln for a few days to join in the festivities. if not this year, i'd like to go sometime before i leave. mainz was a lot of fun last year.
