I need a logic check

.....the point I want to make here is that it's really kind of creepy that a guy can make an automaton that looks exactly like a girl only without a face, and it's creepy because she has a blank face -- and Frederick feels this does not speak well for Hollins' claims to want to better humanity. However, I think, but I am not sure, that I am going ( Read more... )

imaginary beasts, there is a thought process sometimes, meta, steampunk

That sounds like uncanny valley.

Yeah, but what Frederick objects to is not the robot but the idea that someone can make a human-shaped object without a face? idek, I give up.

If it's the lack of a face in itself that he objects to, then that is the uncanny valley effect. But if he has a problem with the dude *choosing* to not give them faces... I don't know what that is. I agree with Frederick, though.

Because the dude is deliberately making them unpeople? That they could be people but he's reduced them to things. I dunno either.

Yes Dahling. Did the building survive me being gone 4 days? You know really it was that I didn't think I could handle a third nurse in one week making me do all sorts of computer things. . .

actually, B is doing better! I haven't had to deal with poor F yet. The caregivers' notes are destroying what small shreds of faith I had in the American education system, though.

...You were gone?

You forgot about M! She's been a holy terror - she made pretty much the whole shift cry on Wednesday. Literally. Watch out for her! I just try not to move in the hope that she won't see me (hey, it worked in Jurassic Park...)

I predict F will have a nervous breakdown. B will be slapped by one of us, I suspect, after one too many stupid questions.

she must have taken it all out on day shift because she was fine with me. not very chatty, but fine, and then she called down and wanted to know how to explain 241's eye. {"Displacement?" "...Shifted?" "YES, THAT.")

I ... really hope I don't spend this weekend trading off with Erin playing tech support ._.

I thought you once said that Frederick died first and then Walter built the fountain in Red Coat?

Or did my brain just fall out there for a minute?

you act like I remember this shit from one minute to the next D:

no, as far as I'm aware, Walter builds the fountain for Frederick and then dies, and Frederick dies about twenty years later. Uh. I may have to go look through what I laughingly call my notes. But I'm pretty sure I've always said that Walter dies first!

3 April 2007:

After Frederick dies (years and years later, promise) Walter completes a clockwork fountain for a public square that has an angel that looks like Frederick. If you press the right button -- it's hidden -- the water pattern changes and pipes play Frederick's favorite song.

Also their world is the Red Coat world (from Roselia Grimm) about one hundred years before Red Coat, and there's a street in the City named after Walter.

I totally did not just spend over an hour and half searching your damn journal, Wordy McWord Pants knew I was right! (I remember it because I thought it was really sweet, okay?)

Not that you can't change details, of course, since it's yours. But I remembered something! Yayz!
