I'm home on a sick day today so I should have free time tonight assuming the cold meds don't knock me unconscious. Tomorrow my parents have got me claimed, but I should have Thursday if tonight doesn't work out. Would that do? (Credentials if you'd like 'em: I'm a professional writer and editor and I proofread my brother's writing for him all the time, which is kind of funny considering he's the one with the master's in education and the job teaching English...)

Sure thing! I can't quite guarantee consciousness & return-of-edits tonight, because you're a couple time zones later than me and I've spent half the day going cooooold-druuuuugs sleeeeeeeep teeeeeea moredruuuuugs ZZZZZzzzz as it is, but I should definitely be conscious and more brainful sometime this week...

do you need it back "Friday" as in "Thursday night or earlier for Friday turning in" or as in "some time on Friday for post-Friday revising and turning in"?

by Friday by about ten am my time?

I have to fill out essay questions on the subject of Why You Want To Hire Meg and I loathe doing them.

Have you tried Norwegian purling? It's supposed to be easier for people who knit Continental (is that what you do?)

The Seraphim shawl looks amazo, and I am tempted to make one myself in a few months (when I can, y'know, afford the pretty, pretty laceweight at the yarn store.)

no, I knit English, I just don't like purling and for some reason I have to purl into the backs of yarn-overs or else they close up on me. this upsets and confuses me and I just don't want to deal with it.

I want to make a really soft light airy version and then a screaming bright multi-color sparkly version out of heavier weight yarn.

Hmm. Maybe you're wrapping the yarn the wrong way when you do a YO? Have you tried wrapping it in the opposite direction and see if that makes it easier to purl?
