everybody else is playing Arkham Asylum but I'm just listening to them talk about elder gods

We had the white elephant exchange and now I have mini figures and also mug cake mix. Plus nobody wanted the meowing wall clock. I can feel your judging eyes on me but I like meowing wall clocks.

Anyway, a troll through Pinboard! I need to write better reviews I think, but I dunno, I just like reading shit.

The Revolution Will Not Be Civilized by the_ragnarok. I've been seeing this one recced on pinboard so I finally gave it a try. My feels are conflicted and kind of vague. Its an omegaverse au where Arthur is the son of the ruler. I went into it expecting fantasy and got uhhh Occupy Issue Fic? With mpreg. And knotting. And ... male lactation? What. Even goes on. In people's heads.

Oh yes and apparently Mal knocks Dom up and that was kind of a deal breaker. I know, but just because you make the chick be the husband doesn't make it any less enraging. He's still a waifu.

Also i feel like by the time you have the dude PRODUCING MILK it is time to just be like LOL I WROTED A GENDERSWITCH 4 U and have done with it. and she had to change his character in subtle yet complete feminist rage blackout inducing ways to make the damn plot work.

(I think I've mentioned this before, but what I really want is a omegaverse fic where instead of omegas being the bottom of the food chain, they're actually the top because they're relatively rare or whatever and the alphas come crawling to them in the thin hope that they will graciously decide they're probably worth having a baby for, maybe. This is a thing I won't get, of course. But I want it.)

The Allowed series by ditto - once you swallow the medium huge pill of Eames being asexual, it’s actually a very charming story about accepting people and learning to live with them as they are. Also, Eames is asexual but not … disinterested? which was pretty nice.

The Skeleton Winter by Branwyn. Sherlock genderswitch fic with John as Joanna. Very good if a little issuey: gender is hammered in a little much for my taste but Joanna sounds like John while still being female. WIP sequel from Sherlock's POV.

Small Town Heroes, Big Town Crooks - a really charming AU where Eames is a spy and Arthur is an assassin, so basically canon without the PASIV. It’s nice because Arthur is a mean little shit.

(By the way I somehow blugeoned Liz into writing an Inception Daemons fic for my birthday (Feb 22! This is the part where you put it on your calenders and say to yourself, I will write Meg porno fanfiction, jsyk), and because we’re kind of horrible, she said ‘and Arthur’s daemon is Dar short for something I --’ and I said ‘Darius’ and she said what he has a male one, and I said, No, “my daemon has a boy name because fuck you”. So uhh I think we’re not allowed to talk to each other any more? We gave Dom a raccoon. Well. I did but she didn’t stop me.

Then it devolved into the time Eames was in a dream and he was like, "Is it short for Darling? Because it shHURK”.)

Little Birds by Winterhill: the AU where Charles is a dove and Erik is a kestrel and ugh this is the cutest. Like, Beatrix Potter only with gay birds. It was amazzziiiing.

All But Memories by Pageleaf: It's a fic where Mike and Harvey from Suits are actually Merlin and Arthur. Which .... well, it was pretty cute, I guess. Nice reading for 5am?

Rule Ten - a giant AU where Eames is like, seventeen and Arthur is like, I am not actually interested in jailbait but oh god. Someone told me I might like it despite it being BDSM but the thing is, I like BDSM fic just fine. It’s just when it’s like, THE ENTIRE WORLD IS SPLIT ON DOM/SUB LINES INSTEAD OF MALE/FEMALE LINES AND I THINK THIS IS EDGY AND SUBVERSIVE INSTEAD OF BEING EXACTLY THE SAME THING that I have rage blackouts. Actual BDSM relationships are okay because it's about two people and not about a society of people being forced into roles that may or may not suit them. Also the ... okay I am going to not shrieking about it again.

Not a fic, but the aforementioned Liz has a recs journal over here and you know, anybody who really can think of things to say about what she's reading right?
