Tomorrow, a rec entry. Today, a protip:
When your mother's caregiver says 'please get your mother some clear or light tinted lip gloss and give it to the medaide', she does not mean 'buy hot pink lipstick and give it to your mother'. She in fact means 'your mother really enjoys wearing makeup and I would like her to have things she enjoys, but your mother once thought her toothpaste was face cream. (And it was a cluster, and took a week and a half to heal, and let's not talk about the time she thought barrier cream went in her hair.) So in lieu of me and the facility hairdresser staring hopelessly at a giant streak of rocker pink in your mother's hair, we need to supervise. By supervise I mean do it for her but your mother thinks I'm her lady's-maid / sister / PA anyway, so that's cool'.
(One of my coworkers did this resident's makeup the other day, only she did it with really dark eye stuff, so between one thing and another I walked past her, did a double take, and had one of those hissing conversations with the medaide where I was like LOOK UP JULIE ANDREWS IN VICTOR/VICTORIA and she was like ...MY GOD. It was kind of amazing, in a horrible way.)
UGH FAMILIES. JUST BEND TO MY WILL LIKE I HAVE TRAINED YOUR MOTHER TO DO.
Q: Meg, you, uh, don't actually reign in terror over a bunch of 90odd year old women, right? ...right?
A: No, but when I say 'You need to calm down, darling' they generally listen to me.
But then there was a therapy llama, and I hugged it, and also it took carrots from people's mouths. Then I went and I got candied lotus seeds, which I've never had but what the hell. AND the plum wine with the plums in, and I spent a lot of time composing jokes about how let's be fair, you look up bourgeois and you find a picture of Sebastian Shaw and Emma's like, You're boring now.
Also,
Dawn just linked me this and dfkla;sfjklads;f why does China get awesome bootleg card roleplaying games about Inception and we just get a stupid shooting script where Nolan liberally jizzes over everything. WHY.
