I had to invent a new metaphor at work.
It is, I hope you're not eating, "an unending fountain of poo".
However, everybody inexplicably seems to be still liking the Manny AU (
now available, for your convenience, at AO3 -- I basically save up until there's enough for a decent sized chapter, so it's a little behind the comment version) so that cheered me up all week.
By the way, I downloaded a newspaper (NYT) and a magazine (New Yorker, also something called Reason which was kind of ... yeah. When something describes itself as moderate I don't expect to see nothing but libertarianism, dudes) onto the Nook, and the newspaper worked pretty well, but it would have to be a newspaper I really liked, and I ended up really liking the magazine format. Since of course when you're reading a magazine you have to go flipping back and forth a lot to find the page it started on, and on the Nook you can just read them all one at a time.
I don't read enough of New York Times every day to make it worth paying $20 a month for (I just like the Arts section), but I think I'll get the Sunday NYT and see how it goes. I'm definitely keeping the New Yorker after the trial subscription runs out. I like the concept of having a daily newspaper on the ereader, but there's no NW paper except for Seattle, which is like. Okay, guys, really? If there were any I was more interested in I think I'd really like it, because then you're not stuck with piles of newspaper waiting to be recycled, which is a bad habit of mine. Also, much easier to read on the bus. I'm thinking about getting the International Herald Tribune.
I have promised Becky that I will watch the first season of Sailor Moon. I've never had a chance to see it. There may be serious discussions about our depressing and mutual crush on Mamoru -- although I'd've shipped him and Fiore for a quarter and she's the original hardcore DEEEESSSTTTTTTIIIIIINNNNY fan of Usagi/Mamoru. Ahahaha. If I really want to drive her crazy all I have to do is talk about how cute Seiya and Usagi are. Anyway, it was nice knowing everybody. If the booze doesn't kill me, the animation probably will.
