There's the time that Spock admits (he's high at the time, not on purpose) he worries that he has human eyes, so (after they get out of the mess) Jim drags him to Bones, who is taking a nap with a Med dog for a pillow. Bones cracks one eye irritably. The Med dog's ears flatten.
Bones gets up, peels back Spock's eyelid, peers into his eye and says, “Yep, nice human eye except for the nictitating membrane there, you should be proud, also you have an appointment with the ship therapist to discuss your feelings about your human heritage, congratulations,” drops back down and closes his eyes.
The Med dog thumps its tail in a friendly but dismissive sort of way.
From this Spock learns that humans are tricksy, tricksy beasts, because McCoy sends the dog down to literally herd him to therapy and the dog proceeds to put its nose on his lap and stare at him with mutely accusing eyes until Spock actually talks to the therapist.
