You'd think that, now we have moved out of the Mersea flat, that our landlady would stop being such a complete bitch. Apparently not. She has left us a voicemail, and sent an email, complaining about the 'state of the flat'. Not only this but she has felt the need to get personal, using remarks such as 'I'd expect nothing less from you two' (??!! wtf?!) and also making remarks about our cats having fleas. There's other stuff, but I can't remember it all, but basically she's turning what should be a simple matter into a personal attack. She sees us as dirty benefit-claiming guttersnipes and feels that she has the right to talk to us as if we are just that. Not that we are still claiming housing benefit now that Steve is working again. No matter, she has no right to form an opinion of us based on this alone.
I cannot tell you how angry this has made me, especially the implication that out pets are not properly taken care of. It's kept me awake for a few nights.
I've just sent her an email addressing her complaints, and requesting that she speak to us in a more appropriate tone if she needs to do so in future. I'm quite pleased with the email, it doesn't stoop to her level and has replied to her comments constructively, most of which are ridiculously petty (she complained there was a beer bottle top left on the heater in the living room - big whoop!!). She is also trying to imply that the mildew in the bathroom is our fault, which it isn't and we have already made her aware of it. I've also said that we expect her to take a deduction from the deposit for a professional clean, so why doesn't she just do that rather than bitching at us about a few petty things and making personal implications about our general level of cleanliness??
AAAAAAAAAAAAAaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrghghghgggghhhhhhh Gods I'm so mad about the whole thing. Still, email sent and now I've said my piece. I just want our deposit money back so we don't have to deal with her any more. Cow.
