Pockets Full of Stones, which is a fabulous White Collar/Thor crossover that I adore to death. But that's not the point. The point is that about halfway through, she describes a series of paintings that Neal did, one of which hit me like a ton of bricks. The description is as follows:
The one that Peter can’t stop staring at is

In more coherent terms, this is amazing. I love the golden/brown shading you've got and I love the posture of the second sketch of the first sheet because it's brilliant and the whole thing just srceams ouch and the tree, do I even have to say anything about the tree?
It's all pretty swell and marvelous and the one that has Loki Cowhorns on the dais made me chortle out loud because even as a rough sketch you managed to make him look like a haughty little shit.
Although this is probably the right time to tell you that bleeding guy on floor was supposed to be Loki as his mouth is sewn shut. But maybe I shouldn't tell you because, yaknow, haughty Loki is such a pretty little shit and did I mention that shading and the tree and the sheer utter brilliance and art of that? I could maybe, maybe, doodle something similar to the tree, because trees are what I'm good at but people? Perspectives? Architecture? You win every available cake in this hemisphere and my eternal adoration.
I'll... go and gush elsewhere now.

I like the second posture too. I'm considering using it no matter which final background I pick. In true, the coloring is just a few watercolor pencils washed it, so it's rouch, but I'm glad the effect works for you. And I'm thrilled you like the tree. Friggin branches, man. I was trying to avoid having any of the lines cross over, which it the exact opposite of what they actually do, but they worked out rather nicely. The last pic is a floorplan: I'm debating drawing some of the others over to reflect the better thought out architecture. Whatcha think?
XD Lol. Truthfully, that's not Loki on the dias, though considering the attitude it might as well be. Odin in the movie had a helm with the cowhorns… I think… Either that or I said fuck it and just made it Loki for the hell of it. I don't particularly like that sketch but I thought you might appreciate it,so…
I know Loki's the one on the floor. Nari wouldn't be so focused on him otherwise, right? What's this about his mouth being sewn shut? Is that why he's bleeding? I was kinda working on the assumption that this was the aftermath of being punished by having something happen to one of his kids, although the only one I can think of that would involve blood would be Vali 'killing' Nari, but if Nari's watching, then Odin obviously knows he's not dead.
XDXDXD Feel free to gush right here~
Lol but really, are they anything like what you had in mind? First rule of illustration: don't consult the writer, but I'd really like to know if I got it right. Any of them you like best?

As for what I had in mind... sort of, but not exactly, which is a good thing because my imagination is mine and yours is yours, if that makes sense. Same would be boring.
Doesn't mean I don't love them. All of them. The only thing I'm not completely in love with is the way the blood catches in the tree inlay, because it's so symmetrical. I imagined the blood either small scale or in the roots or branches, for better effect.
As for the one I like best... the first for the posture, and for the background...the second is most like what I imagined, but it seems a bit boring now, so I'd prolly go for the second sketch on the first sheet, too, because I get the impression of baby Nari peeking out from behind a pillar, close to the door, far from the throne. He probably snuck in.
Basically the amounts of love I have for all of this are crazy.

Also true. We had an assignment once where we were given a scene description and we all had to draw what we thought it looked like. All 20 of us had something different and they were all cool.
Yeah? Huh. Blood in the spread would be more dynamic, like spiderwebs.
When you say first, so you mean first sheet or first sketch?
