I went for a walk today in the park near my house. I only go there once every year or so, which is silly because it's really nice to have open space right next door.
The park is quite small, by park standards, but I managed to walk for an hour or so (although I did spend about 10 minutes playing on the roundabout; nobody was around!). The park spans the south perimeter of the estate next to my road and there are views over the fields and countryside of Derbyshire. There is such a juxtaposition between the countryside views, the open space of the park, the stream that serparates the park from the fields and the housing estate. It's beautiful in a way, to think how different worlds are so close, yet still very separate. It's literally two seconds walk from hundreds of terraced houses to a bridge over the little stream and a stile going into a field full of maize.
Autumn is beautiful this year, I think. I kept stopping and looking at the leaves on the floor and the trees and the appreciating the stillness. I think I'll go again tomorrow..
