After taking a few weeks off and recovering my sanity, I've decided to post the final WIL for Lisana Bevilacqua, Contessa de la Montefiascone. She's been a great character to play and I'm certain I'll take her out to visit other places. Using my great-grandmother's name as an inspiration to begin building her was so much fun. Even my grandmother (Nonni) came to faire to see her. What an amazing 6 years with this incarnation of what could have been... Yes, it was a total of 6 years - 3 as a playtron and 3 SAPA years.
1. Being married to Sir Henry Norrys was absolutely lovely.
1a. Impromptu picnics in Holly Field drew lots of patron attention...especially when he fell asleep with his head in my lap. (I was asked in a whisper by a patron if she could take a picture.)
1b. Do not eat pepperoni in the 95 degree heat of the day. You WILL get sick overnight.
2. Most Improved Fighter Award? No shit, really?
2a. Delia is a master at improv - she knew it was going to happen and still braided my hair like nothing was going on.
3. My kid rocks. 3 mugs this season proved it. I knew it all along. Damnit.
3a. My little kid deserves a "putting up with my brother award" too.
3b. I am so lucky that I got good kids.
4. New friends are wonderful additions to my life.
4a. When they mention that they're concerned that the "faire drama" is over and we won't be friends anymore makes me sad.
4b. When I love you, I love you. Faire not included.
5. I was pleasantly surprised how well things went this season, despite new administration, new performers and my own self doubts.
6. If you dump your SO, do it in the beginning - not the end.
6a. Be a used douche somewhere other than at faire, and don't ask me if I hate you. It will lead to a conversation starting with "Now, let me tell you something..." Asshat.
7. I love being a reliable seamstress and would join staff if asked. I have no problem being muscle when it's needed.
8. I found an understanding of people that I never thought I would. More people than I realized have value. I need to look at ALL people this way in the future.
9. Gifting a poppet to a friend was one of the most gratifying things I did all season.
9a. To hear her ask to pay for a portrait with the poppet is all the inspiration I needed.
10. All gypsies need homes.
10a. Lisana doesn't like them, but she believes they need a place to call their own.
11. Spending a weekend with the Morgan girls was lovely.
12. Hooray for Colorado peeps!
12a. A trip to DFW airport after 10 hours at faire is exhausting.
12b. I'll do it again next season...and the season after...and the one after that...
13. There is still much to learn.
13a. More blood, sweat and tears to shed.
13b. Friends to make.
13c. Love to share.
14. The realization that some of the most important people are leaving makes me nervous about the future.
15. Going to the village is very bittersweet.
16. Don't rag me about my English dialect already. I have 10 months to learn my own version of Northern English and I'm going on the Potter Dialect Plan. Bust my balls about it opening day of 2011. Until then, bugger off!
17. Hot days still suck - an immeasurable amount..
17a. There is a ring of truth to "Lady Juice, Crotch Jelly Time!"
18. I couldn't have asked for a better partner for the final Spangoletta (unless John had been there...but that's a given.)
18a. Daniel Raptus is a very quick learner!
18b. I want to teach him Amaroso next season!
19. I regret not spending more time with Sawbones and Yasmina.
19a. I also regret not doing more with Derby and Rochfort.
19b. Most of all, I missed spending time in the Scottish Court, with all their silly antics and crazyness with the nutters gravitate there.
20. Zombiefied Lady Mary and her SCREAMS promo was brilliant!!
21. Hooray for the 7 Deadlly Sins on the Wolf Shelf that raised $1000 for RESCU!
21a. I'm proud of all of us for pitching in and doing our parts to help.
21b. It's kinda awkward to be privy to the Sins dressing in the keep...interesting, but awkward.
22. There was a pang of guilt and a wave of relief at closing cannon on Memorial Day.
22a. In the end, it was all worth the season's dramas, frustrations and pleasures.
And so it goes...another season of Scarborough Faire put to rest.
I can honestly say, aside from my first season, I've learned more, fought harder and grew as a person more than I can ever remember. I took stock of my life, my family and my friends and made a brilliant quilt of memories out of all the experiences this year. Some things will fade into the abyss, others will be proudly displayed in my daily life. But all in all, I wouldn't trade any of it.
Now on to bigger and brighter futures...after a well earned nap.
