Told work

I first talked to the partner who has informally served as my mentor. I'm sure I've raved about her in the past. She's like a breath of fresh air because she's so positive and encouraging. She's a real estate transactions attorney, age 40, has two daughters, ages 6 and 9, and an attorney husband. She works a reduced schedule which means she's in the office 9-5. So we share some things in common and she's taken me under her wing. Like the first week I was here, she told me how I should try to pick up my daughter from school and avoid getting a nanny if at all possible. At a lot of big firms, this would be unheard of since it would be expected that you'd be in the office in the evening.

Anyway, it went well and she advised me to tell my boss sooner rather than later. So, I told him immediately afterwards. And he was very congratulatory. It was sort of anti-climactic.

So, now, as soon as I hem my pants that finally came in yesterday, I can "let loose" so to speak ;)
