So, I had to laugh out loud today when the $700 billion bailout failed. That kind of legislation is such a joke its not even funny. I was so upset when I finally read the bill that I actually wrote my congressman to express myself (that says alot because normally I believe that to be a huge waste of time). Anyways, they were just going to give the secretary of the Treasury the ability to buy and sell mortgages and securities. Are they nuckin' futz or what?! That is possibly the worst thing that the government could do to "help" the economy. Why don't they create jobs, or give grants to new businesses or something productive (like they did during the Great Depression)? No, instead they just decide to bailout everyone who has overextended themselves in the past few years and give millions of dollars to the execs on Wall Street (who bankrupted their businesses). It is absolutely absurd and the biggest uckfa ouya to those people that played it smart and made sure they could afford stuff. That just screams "screw up big time and we will save your ass!" Of course, I would expect nothing less from the Bush administration...
If any of you give 2 shits (that's about as much as I give, but hey!) about the kind of life you will live in the next decade or so, you will call and write your congressman and tell them this is bogus and their is a better way to solve this issue. Try to be a little more professional than me, though, and do NOT tell them that you will start "settin' fuckin' firesss...and settin' fuckin' firrrreessss..." (too much Tenacious D lately).
