The judge entered the courtroom and the bailiff gave the customary call. "All rise, Criminal Court part 4 now in session, the Honorable Judge Jamie Ross presiding."
Jamie sat down and banged her gavel.
"Good morning, Counselors." She nodded first at the prosecution table where ADAs Cabot and Finn sat. Then she nodded at the defense table, where Riley Toth, the public defender, sat.
Ross read the file before her. "State of New York versus Alexander Lumberg, one count of second degree murder. Defendant pleads not guilty, as per arraignment. Ms. Cabot, the people may open their case."
