His phone rang, “I need to see you,” was all she said.
He could here the stress in her voice, born of too many hours of examining bodies twisted by the violence one human could inflict on another.
“Where?” was his simple response.
“The hotel?” she suggested uncertainly.
Lennie preferred the hotel, even though his budget didn’t. His place was too run-down; somehow it made what they did seem tawdry.
“I’ll meet you there in half an hour,” he promised.
Soon the stress of too much death and too little justice was eased away with kisses and caresses, two friends sharing each other.
