"And later that year, young Laura graduated from high school, successfully completing her Naperville Unit District 203 education, sitting in the front row, looking at the rainbow and suspiciously eyeing the rain that was causing her graduation cap to curve at the corners. After all her classmates had walked across that stage, Laura threw her wet, bent cap high into the air and jumped into the arms of her best friends. She hugged her parents. She screamed a lot. She took lots of pictures that 'you always dream of having.' She hugged someone she hadn't hugged in a long time. After finding her love Stephanie and hugging her, and looking at her high school diploma Laura realized that she was very happy. And for that, she was glad."
i suppose that's the end of a chapter. it felt like the climax of my life story, though. the last page, the closing of the book. but i get the feeling that it really was just that- a chapter that, in retrospect, might not seem as significant as it seems right now.
but as for the present, i am now living solely off catered graduation party food. and graduation party cake. lots of cake.
it's interesting the things we hang onto. like school lanyards and bright orange parking passes. we didn't know it would be so hard.
