[::::::::::]
Yunho heaves a disappointed sigh. He can’t find Jaejoong anywhere in the restaurant. ‘Where did he go?’ He knows he had heard correctly when Yoochun told him the location, a minute before he dashed out. So, why can’t he find Jaejoong anywhere in the restaurant? ‘Gah! Why he can’t he have thought to give chase earlier?’ Yunho thought, smiling bitterly. Perhaps they have left to go somewhere else.
When he turns his body to the right, about to head out, his eyes widen in surprise as he catches a familiar white jacket. He narrows his eyes to make sure they aren’t deceiving him. And lucky for him, his eyes do not seem to want to play tricks on him today. It’s Jaejoong!
Without thinking any further, Yunho’s legs start to run on their own accord. Jaejoong, he has to see Jaejoong. “JAEJOONG!”
It takes a lot of courage for Yunho to call the name out loud. It’s a crazy thing to do; after all, they are Dong Bang Shin Gi, the most famous boyband in Korea and Asia. Though fortunately for him, it seems no one is really paying any attention to their surroundings.
“Yunho?” Jaejoong lifts his head in confusion. His red, puffy eyes telling Yunho that something has happened to him prior to his arrival. “W-what are you doing here?” Jaejoong stammers, trying to force a smile and hide the fact he’s crying.
“You’re crying?” Yunho ignores Jaejoong’s question, choosing instead to wipe Jaejoong’s tears off his cheeks. “Why are you crying?” It doesn’t register into Yunho’s brain at first, but when he notices the guy who has Jaejoong’s sling bag in his hands beside him, his brain automatically tells him that, this guy is Jaejoong’s date. Anger starts to build inside him just thinking about it. “You made him cry?” Yunho shoots the question to the guy.
“What?” Jaejoong looks between Yunho and Taehwan. “No, no. It’s not like that Yunho!”
“Then?” Yunho looks at Jaejoong with an indescribable expression. “If it’s not because of him, why are you crying then?”
“I-I…” Jaejoong bites his lips before signalling at Taehwan to help him. Instead Taehwan turns to Yunho and gives him a smile.
“You’re Yunho, right?” When he receives a nod, he hands Jaejoong’s bag to him. “I’m Taehwan, Jaejoong’s friend. Actually he’s -“
“No!” Jaejoong cuts him off. He gives Taehwan a death stare, making Yunho look back and forth between the two of them, confused. “Why don’t you go home?”
Taehwan smirks, “Go home? Just now you asked me to stay!” he teases but, when he sees Jaejoong pout, he gives up, “Alright, I shall take my leave now. And Yunho,” Taehwan stops just beside Yunho and pats his shoulder, “He needs you to tell him something. Good luck!”
“What?” Yunho spills out in confusion. “What is he talking about? What do you want me to tell you, Jaejoong?”
“Huh?” Jaejoong voices, rubbing the nape of his neck uneasily, “N-no, it’s nothing important.” Jaejoong then grabs his bag from Yunho, “Let’s go.”
But before Jaejoong can so much as make the move to leave, Yunho is one step ahead. He grabs Jaejoong’s wrist, preventing Jaejoong from going anywhere. “No, you have to tell me first.” Yunho feels his possessive side kicking in.
“What?” Jaejoong looks nervous, which is uncharacteristic of him. “What do you want to know?”
“Why are you crying?”
“I’m not crying!” Jaejoong states in defence, “It must be some dust that… got into my eyes… yeah.”
“You’re not lying, are you?”
“Why should I be?” Jaejoong laughs awkwardly. “Come Yunho, I’m hungry” Jaejoong smiles cutely. Of course, no one can resist him when he pulls that trick.
Yunho sighs, “Okay” then places his hand around Jaejoong’s shoulder like he usually does. “I thought you have a date tonight, wasn’t Taehwan supposed to be your date?” Yunho asks.
Jaejoong shakes his head. “No, the one who is supposed to have a date with me tonight didn’t come.”
Hearing that, Yunho turns to face him. Jaejoong must be sad. “I’m sorry.”
“No, don’t be. It’s not your fault”
Yunho doesn’t like it when Jaejoong is unhappy. He wants to see Jaejoong happy and making sure he is, has become his priority in life. “Who is he? He doesn’t have the right to let you down. Tell me who the guy is and I’ll punch his face in.”
Jaejoong laughs when he sees Yunho’s serious expression. “Really? You will punch him?”
“Of course, he made you cry!”
Jaejoong winks, “Then you should punch yourself!” he said, sticking his tongue out.
“What?” Yunho blinks, “Punch myself? Me?”
“Just kidding.” Jaejoong hugs Yunho’s arm, “Gah, it’s been such a long time, hasn’t it? …we don’t usually have time to walk like this, right?”
Yunho nods. Although in his mind, he still really wants to know about the guy who is supposed to have a date with Jaejoong; but it seems like Jaejoong doesn’t want to tell him. Why? Is Jaejoong really in love with this guy?
“Jaejoong.”
“Hm?”
“Do you love this guy?”
Jaejoong stops in his tracks. “W-what? Why do you ask that?” Jaejoong says, eyes looking everywhere except at Yunho.
Yunho sighs again. “I don’t know… I just have a feeling that you love him.”
Jaejoong releases Yunho’s arm and walks away, mumbling something Yunho can’t quite catch.
They are a metre apart when Jaejoong stops. This time, pure surprise written all over his face. He is sure he heard correctly since Yunho is the one who said it after all.
“I love you, Jaejoong!” Yunho yells again, this time, with more confidence lacing his tone. Yunho thinks he can actually hear the sound of his heart thumping. This is a typical reaction and Yunho knows it. But when Jaejoong turns around, faces and walks towards him, he isn’t so confident anymore. What if Jaejoong is mad?
“W-what did you say again?”
“I love you” Yunho says softly, “I really do love you, Jaejoong.”
It is sudden and Yunho isn’t expecting it to come. Yet when it does come, Yunho feels happy. He tightens the hug. Jaejoong accepts him.
“Why did you take such a long time to tell me?” Jaejoong asks when they break the hug.
Yunho chuckles, as he now takes Jaejoong’s hand in his and intertwines their fingers. “I was afraid you… might not take it very well.”
“What?” Jaejoong says with surprise, “And what’s making you so brave today?” Jaejoong pouts.
Yunho smiles and pinches Jaejoong’s cheek, “All thanks to Yoochun. He gave me advice that I should tell you my feelings.”
“Really?”
Yunho nods. “So, now we are officially a couple, understand?”
Jaejoong grins, “I know that! You don’t have to remind me when it just happened a few minutes ago!”
“You can’t blame me” Yunho retorted. “Eh, wait a minute. I thought you love the guy who’s supposed to come. Then why…” Yunho says, looking confused, “Jaejoong… do you really love me?” Yunho suddenly isn’t so sure anymore. He’s afraid Jaejoong is only accepting him because he IS his best friend.
“Yunho, I really do love you. And well… about that guy…” Jaejoong scratches his head, “The guy… it’s you.” Jaejoong cheeks quickly flush a pale pink color.
“Me? How?”
“Well… I know you don’t remember. Ah, I should have known but, I’m just too silly to think otherwise,” Jaejoong smiles bitterly.
“I’m sorry.”
Jaejoong shakes his head, “It’s my fault. You were drunk that night.”
“Can you tell me again, what I said to you that night?”
“You… you asked me out on a date, today to be exact, to that restaurant,” Jaejoong points his finger to the restaurant currently with lots of people walking into it. “I was so happy when I heard that and I…”
Yunho suddenly feels guilty. How can he forget such an important thing? “I’m sorry. Let me make it up to you.”
“Huh?”
Yunho winks, “Come on, we shall go there now before all the spaces fill up.”
“Go? Fill up? Where?”
“The restaurant. I promised you that, so, I shall keep to it now,” Yunho smiles. “After all, this is our first date as a couple, albeit with a few mishaps along the way.”
Eyes shimmering and loving the idea, Jaejoong holds onto Yunho’s hand and with an afterthought, he whispers into Yunho’s ears. “But I still want you to propose to me in that restaurant.”
Yunho smiles genuinely, “I promise you, next time, it will be perfect.”
But, he has to admit, everything will be perfect as long as Jaejoong is there with him. And furthermore, he thinks Jaejoong is his missing piece, because right now, he finally feels complete.
Thanks Yoochun.
