Holidays and other things

A Merry Yule to all my Pagan friends, also: in case I miss saying it, Merry Christmas to all those celebrating. I missed saying Happy Channukah to those who celebrated a while ago, so I hope it was a lovely Festival of Lights for all of you. We are planning to start celebrating Channukah next year as we didn't have time to think about a fitting tribute this year (it was a late in the season decision to celebrate, so we will do a better job in 2008). Happy Kwanza to anyone who is celebrating - you know, when you get there, and a Happy New Year to all who are celebrating that... Ramadan... umm, it's an important one, but it's past (like last October), and I couldn't fast if my life depended on it, so if you fasted over Ramadan and made it to Eid (which, to this woman, seems more like it) then I congratulate you and I hope your Eid was festive and happy - sorry I'm so late in my wishes.
Tonights feast is Cock-a-leekie Soup, the chicken left from it, Haggis and a Colcannon/Clapshot sort of veggie mix. Naturally a Yule Log cake was in order :D. My house has greenery and some lovely white candles along with mistletoe. Couldn't get any REAL holly, though. It sold out fast.

I've been extremely busy the past while but things are kind of getting done. Of course every time something gets done, three new things spawn to take its place. I've been helping the kids next door make gifts for family and teachers. This is both fun and trying. I add to this the stuff that WE should be doing and it makes for a rather frazzled Lavvie, but I am feeling happier now than I normally do at this point, so I am pleased. Bipped into town with Hilary, Bunny, and Tyler. Twas fun, but I was glad to get home and rest my limbs.

Last night Snowy, one of my very favourite hamsters, was found dead in her cage. It was a major surprise as she has been fitter than a fiddle. I suspect one of the neighbour girls (much the klutz) dropped her and didn't tell me, just put her back in her cage. Not much I can do to bring Snowy back, but I will try to gently get to the bottom of this. The immediate resulting rule is that this girl does not have unsupervised access to the cages and pets now, and that one of us will take the pet out of the cage. *sigh* I'm going to miss my girl, she was so perky and sweet. I only have one picture of her online right now, and it's not a very good one, but this is her on the left. On the right is her sister, Sophie, who died a few months ago.

That picture was taken when they were six or seven weeks old. Long time.

I had to take D'Arcey rat in to see a doctor the other day. Her breathing is not good and it turns out she has something going on in (at least) her left lung. This means that it's likely Emmy has it too. Yes, I'm scared. The girls mean a lot to me, they have often kept me sane, and they make me happy. We have them on a large antibiotic in hopes that it's not a virus (if it's a virus, then it has a high probability of resulting in a fatality). They are getting their bedding changed every few hours and we are hoping for the best.

Ok, I have an early morning and a long day tomorrow, so I'm off to bed. Wish me luck for sleeping.
