Closed; Fred: Being Released

Nov 30, 2013 01:14

The last seven days crawled by. Once Lavender had gotten back on her feet, Cecilia had told her they hoped to release her on Saturday. She would have to return routinely for more long term testing and check-ups. The poison had done considerable damage to her body and, despite the week's earlier news, they were still hoping to see a change.

Lavender woke up that morning feeling more like her usual self, much more positive and optimistic. The twinkling lights and dancing snow men still adorned her room and shone brightly in the morning light, only brightening her mood. Though, Hestia had removed anything that made noise (claiming it was too distracting) and it was particularly entertaining to watch her search for the clocked 80's singing Pigmy Puffs for what seemed like hours.

She got up slowly and carefully began to gather her personal belongings into the bag that Alex had brought her. He had definitely over compensated, grabbing any piece of clothing that appeared clean enough for her to wear. It was nice to have options. Lavender changed into a fresh pair of black leggings and a long white t-shirt and her favorite long, loose cardigan.

"You're looking quite well this morning, Miss Brown," Hestia told her, entering Lavender's room. She smiled kindly over at her. "We can begin your paperwork when you finish in here and then release you as soon as somebody arrives to take you home."

"I'm sorry? I can't check myself out?" Lavender asked, slightly confused. This was her first stay at St. Mungo's, despite being an extremely clumsy child (a perk of growing up next to Mrs. Davies - one of the best Healers in the area). She had assumed that she would be able to walk out on her own.

"No, dear, it's St. Mungo's policy," Hestia went on to explain. "Especially somebody in your condition. But with all the visitors you've had, I'm sure it won't be too difficult to find somebody."

Lavender nodded and watched Hestia leave, closing the door behind her.

Running her fingers through her hair, Lavender tried to think. She knew any one of her friends would come for her, they had made that very clear this week. But Marlow must have been back at Hogwarts and Roger probably had practice (or had Lily, which she didn't want to risk). George had been here for countless hours already and she hoped he was taking over a shift for Fred.

Fred... Lavender chewed her bottom lip, wondering if he would be free. There was only way to find out.

Fred,

Nobody told me I'd be trapped here until a white knight came for me.
Are you free to do some rescuing?

Love, Lav
