Birthday Fun

Thank you for all the birthday wishes, and dimity_blue and aerianya, thanks for the flowers and chocolate torte. I want ya'll to know I had a great time last weekend, and this weekend my kids and grandbabies are coming for more belated birthday fun. My son, upon hearing I was cooking a ham tonight, juggled his schedule so he could make it here in time for dinner. That boy always was good at showing up just as a meal was ready.

So me and the mister, plus another couple, who we don't know that well so it was fun doing something with them to get to know them better, went to Nashville last Sunday and heard Gaelic Storm play in a large bar. It was a three hour drive each way, but Sonya drove so I caught a break there.

Gaelic Storm is fun, impudent, and they're great musicians who play sort of celtic music. They're not purists, although they play traditional instuments. Most of the tunes were upbeat and amusing. For those who have heard them before, Jesse, their fiddler, is seven months pregnant. She looked wonderful.

Anyway, I love what this creative person did to one of their songs, sworn by Pat, their lead singer and the hero of the tale, to be a true story. It's called, The Night I Punched Russell Crowe and the story is acted out with Legos. Really, really funny. I'd say Pat has kissed the Blarney Stone sometime, except I hear that if you're really Irish, you wouldn't want to touch it with a ten foot pole, due to tourist sliming it? Not sure, but I think that's what I heard.

I'm Irish on my mother's side. I've six brothers and sisters with red hair and freckles. Me and the youngest ended up blondes, probably Dad's side of the family(German and somewhere around Bosnia) heritage showing through.

I was off of work a lot, due to flex time and taking Friday and Monday off. I'm off work today since I got my hours in, and I've had time to do some writing and podficcing, too, as part of my birthday fun.

The rest of the gang are coming tomorrow, and bringing cake, I hear. So we'll let the good times roll.
