Work! (sleep)

*clears throat* to the tune of "McCavity" from Cats:
Insomnia, Insomnia, there's nothing like insomnia...

So my first three days of work went really well, I think. I love everything about the work environment; the company treats its employees with trust and respect (and a lot of free caffeine and sugar), which engenders a desire to see the company do well. Morale is high, the people are friendly and happy, and from my little table by the wall-sized windows (five floors up) I got to watch the clouds brush across the mountains and pour out their loads. There's a hawk who flies just above us sometimes, and there's a pegasus on the balcony.

There's just this one thing...

WHY CAN'T I SLEEP?

The night before my first day I figured I wouldn't sleep much for excitement, and I didn't. I laid in bed for a good five hours, but I feel like I was half-awake the whole time, and I know I was all awake part of the time. Next night, I figured I'd sleep well. Denied. I was up until 4:30 or so. Just couldn't sleep. Functioned fine at work despite splitting headache. Went to adoration, went home, and finally slept. Ah, eight and one-half hours of lovely, lovely sleep. Another day at work (yesterday) went very well, and I think I accomplished much despite the fact that no one's had time yet to train me on my actual job; not that there's any standard training process or anything. Have a horrible headache. Go home, relax, play some video games, go to bed nice and early...and lay there... and lay there... Finally give up, read my insurance info in the hopes of being bored to sleep. No luck. Take care of miscellaneous online chores. At 4:45, call favorite bakery and ask how many poppyseed kolaches they will have when they open. Answer: as many as I want. I'm pretty sure they refer to me as "poppyseed girl" behind my back. Went out at six for piping hot, fresh, luscious poppyseed kolaches plus 2 dozen packaged for freezing. Ate a few, now am listening to the birds and finally, FINALLY, starting to feel sleepy.

Patronize Kolache Station. They rock.
