[music| New York Minute- Don Henley] Should I make a tired squee about Henley?
I checked my school e-mail today at Grandma’s and found a couple of e-mails of interest. One was from our contact person at Chambery answering one of my questions about the 160 euro prestage fee (how do they know it’s from me/who I am if I’m not accepted yet?). I think she gets a list of all the applicants from another woman and then matches them up. So that's good. Second was also from her saying that she had gotten my cheque today! It would have been mailed on Monday and she got it today! Go postal service!! That’s a huge weight off my shoulders. With my cheque we had included a copy of my application so she’d know who I was, but it wasn’t the copy with my picture and the school signatures and stuff, so her e-mail told me what I was missing and to send it in again. I panicked for a second before I realized that she wasn’t talking about the copy that CIP has and is sending officially, so I e-mailed explaining that my actually application was coming.
The next was from Rebecca at CIP saying that I need to get in touch with her to talk about the prestage payment. … What? This is on the 25th of April. Exams are completely over and I’m away for the week and unable to check my e-mail. If Lauren hadn’t given me the heads up the other week then I would have been supremely messed up. But it's really nice of Rebecca to be heads up on things. *snerk* So there goes another e-mail telling her that it's handled. But there are only two signatures on my application, so I’m really hoping she knows what she’s talking about when she says that she signs for Thomas. I should e-mail her again tonight just to make absolutely sure. I’ll bash my head on the wall if the signatures are wrong and that Thomas could have signed it weeks ago if I’d known.
Today we drove to Guelph and moved all of my stuff out of the house. Ok, it didn’t look like much stuff, but it’s definitely filled the Bravada and Dad’s trailer. But! But! I am moving out my bed, bed frame, a freezer, my dresser and desk, so I actually don’t have much stuff, you know?
We’re driving home, it’s only noon, we probably still have another 45 minutes, and I haven’t got anything else to say, but I don’t want to relinquish the laptop. Oh, dilemma. Oh! I remember something! Our last time walking around Times Square I bought the Il Divo music book, muahaha. And, oh and! We went into the big Virgin store but there wasn’t anything I wanted to get, until I went downstairs. They had this big opera section! So many different boxed cds of different operas, but I didn’t even want to check the prices. What did I buy instead? Eeeee, The Very Best of Placido Domingo and The Young Domingo! They’re both double discs! I ♥ Placido Domingo. (Ok,
okenakab, I almost wish you hadn’t shown me how to do the hearts because I’m going to start using them excessively!)
The Young Domingo cd has 34 songs from different operas like Le Cid, Cavalleria Rusticana, Rigoletto, Turandot, La boheme, and Werther. (David Miller did Werther! I have pictures of him as Werther! Win!) The Very Best cd has 39 songs from Aida, Tosca, different works by Wagner, and what song from Villancicos? En Aranjuez con tu amor! Il Divo did this song! I love both versions because they are different from each other, so it’s not a straight cover. I do love how the Il Divo song sounds very Spanish, so I’m swayed towards that version.
I forgot my Clarks of England mug at the house! Oh well, I think they gave me another one at work. Treat it well, Coch, it’s a good mug! I left the dishes because we used them a lot this year, so I’m not going to take them away.
okenakab, I still can’t get your song out of my head! I wish I could put it on my mp3 player. My Grandma thinks she remembers seeing you on tv before or somewhere (she saw this clip online). “She’s a nice looking girl!” says my Grandma. And she loved your song too.
Everyone go to
wishingbox and check out the Il Divo icons
chrissycakes_xx made! See the animated ones? Brilliance! Now, see the Dancing Urs one?! Isn’t it amazing?!?! I was definitely making a scene in my Grandma’s kitchen last night when I saw it. The second I get home and get my computer set up I’m saving it and ogling it and being a complete fan girl over it. Edit: Look! I'm using it now!
I need to catch up on my flist and comment! And I need to do the meme for
anthonycoch and
okenakab, I haven’t forgotten.
And that's all of my New York entries! They're all in order and backdated from the 23rd.
Edit:
Yousendit for Domingo's En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor!
Comment from
okenakabYES! DANCING URS! And heart-excessiveness is good. ♥
Wow, Placido did Aranjuez??? AND YOU GOT THE BOOK! How is it?! (Still waiting for my chance to go get it at Borders, grrr...) I love it. Haven't had a chance to practise it yet, but I'm excited.
One of my tech-savvy friends supposedly ripped the song off the website, but she hasn't sent me the mp3 yet...will let you know when/if I get it!
And...I was on TV in 2004, for like another 3 minutes. It was for ABC news, the Person of the Week thing. And it was also about piano, haha. That's probably where she saw it, she has a really random memory like me.
(Sorry, I like to keep my comments :D)
