helllloooo!!!! heres my bi-monthly check in!
Moved into a new apartment! Woohoo! its a two bedroom, 325 a month. my friend Scott lives in the same building, and we have a MASSIVE garden in the vacant lot behind our house. hes in charge of planting hte food, and ive got flowers and herbs started. the food will be planted in beds in the middle of hte lot, strawberry plants and peas up against the back fence. the herb garden will be against one side fence, and sunflowers will be planted alllll along the borders of the lot. Calendula spread around all the garden beds, to ward away pests and look fabulous. the neighbors upstairs and in the house next door have gotten involved too, making their own beds in the backyard and helping us with our preparations. its like a community garden for hte two houses and its building a good relationship between us! YAY!!!! Shawn might move in next month, hes here all the time anyway and it would be a lot cheaper for both of us. we have been entering a very domestic phase lately ; )
Fancy new job at the YMCA! 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, taking care of kids before and after school. only problem is that ill be starting at Sauquoit and Clinton schools, and my car situation is non-existant kinda. So, i need to either find a job thats in Utica or find a car. working on both. got hired part-time at Grimaldi's restaurant doing evening banquets, just to rake in some extra cash.
i think im going to go back to school to get my Teachers Certificate in childhood education. itll help me get a job working with kids and community agriculture, which will be cool. Right now Scott and I are working on getting ourselves involved with Cornell's Junior Master Gardener program at one of the community gardens we are managing. Things are starting slow, with everyone's schedules being different, but its going to be good. When the garden is set up we will advertise to the community about getting kids involved and holding youth workshops, and i will be super happy about it.
lets see, what else...been biking all over now that i live in Utica and i love it. LOVE IT. Shawn and i went on a bike adventure the other day to Proctor park and it was awesome. Oh! First weekend of herbalism classes with 7Song in Ithaca this weekend, plus I get to meet Shawn's brother and explore the town which im psyched about. I want to learn more about Ithaca and keep it in mind for future places to try to get hippie jobs playing in the dirt with kids ; )
ok! i think im pretty much done for now. Happy Mothers Day everyone, and ill talk to you in another 2 months-ish!
