Well, i havent really posted anything particularly detailed about the way things have been going lately, sooo i guess ill do that now!
I was living for a few months with my AMAZING friends Jeff and Tracey and their beautiful baby Maereid up until the end of February. But the landlord, a recovering painkiller addict, went pyscho and started threatening their family because i was living there. so i moved back home with the mom and the dad.
Work kinda sucks right now because I am thoroughly convinced that the Chesterfield restaurant does not want me to live above the poverty line. ever. So right now I simply cant afford to live anywhere but home. BUT I might be getting a new job soon? ive been looking everywhere for better work, but the job im waiting to hear about is at Planned Parenthood. a couple years back i did some real swell things for them and they have a job opening up soon doing advocacy and outreach work for clients around the Utica and the Rome area. super awesome. So Cheryl is putting my name at the top of the list for call backs when the job officially opens up. problem is, stuff moves slow at PP and im not sure how long its going to be before they start trying to actually fill the position. but if i get that, ill be able to afford my OWN place (!!!!!) and it will be magical.
My lil' old truck Gertie is almost done, finally, getting her facelift from my wonderful friend Rob. Should in theory be done by the end of the night. hopefully she runs a while longer ; ) But if i can move back to Utica soon, im gonna bike everywhere! yay!
Im officially enrolled at the Northeast School of Botanical Medicine in Ithaca, NY under the tutilege of herbalist/flaming hippie named 7Song. its one weekend a month for 6 months and i couldnt be more excited. im looking forward to expanding my herbalism skills as well as learning botany and human physiology ; )
My new friend Dae and I have recently become partners on the amazing community garden projects he has started in the Utica area. a lot of my time the past week has been spent on the computer tracking down supplies, and learning how to write grants...super exciting, and a big undertaking, but i couldnt be more happy about it. i think community garden projects, when they are successful, is more important than organic farming itself. it brings people together, gets local food into urban communities and strengthens non-profits working for the greater good. i can see myself getting involved in local food projects long term, and its rapidly becoming a more important goal than even running my own farm.
oh, and Shawn and i are back together. breaking up was a silly idea, on his part, and asking for me to forgive him and telling me he didnt want to live a life without me in it was a good idea, on his part. nobody has ever been this good at loving me. everyday i have to hold back the urge to just marry him tomorrow. im never gonna lose him again.
sooo besides work sucking everything is coming together and going well! and hopefully soon ill have some magical news that im working for Planned Parenthood, have a great place to live and am working diligently on growing my own garden in my own backyard. things are good, and im working the best i can on making them better. love you all ; )
