all she ever talks about these days are thesis and DTBP...

I think the thesis might be causing hallucinations.

A guy walked up to me today in the cafe where I was working, pointed to Duct Tape Backpack, and said, "What's that?"

"A backpack."

"What's it made of?"

"Duct tape."

"Did you make it?"

"Yes."

"Does it have everything you need? Like, if you could make a Duct Tape Backpack 2.0, would you add anything new?"

I blinked at him for a moment, then proceeded to deliver a demonstration of DTBP's velcro-enabled modularity. I explained that DTBP could be added to at any time, and that was one of its attractive features. He nodded attentively and listened to my whole spiel with interest. Once I had fully demoed DTBP, with this man continuing to ask just the right questions to get me to show off all features of the backpack [1], he said, "Neat," and wandered off.

At no point did I tell the man that this object was Duct Tape Backpack 2.0. Even if he was a figment of my imagination, I didn't want to admit to him that I'm the kind of crazy who has two backpacks made of duct tape.

[1] the only reason I have to believe that I didn't conjure this man up so that I could tell yet one more person all about the awesomeness that is DTBP -- with him eliciting the information from me naturally at every step along the way -- was that he did ask whether duct tape kept things cold, in reference to my water bottle holder module. That had never occurred to me and definitely was not a factor in making that module.

duct tape back pack, thesis, silly, hallucinations
