Crazy-busy: links and discussion

Nov 20, 2011 10:32

I have been a neglectful journaler for the past few weeks, largely because I've been noodling with writing when I'm not being inundated by work -- WHOOSH oh here comes another shower of Stuff to Do Now ( Read more... )

I have time off after Tuesday, so it's just a matter of forty-eight hours... [perseveres]

[sends good cheer and good thoughts your way]

With you on the busy-ness, with a side-helping of omg what month is this?

However, now I need you to write a story where Deneuve and Rigg are buddies who steal fashion and high-end jewelry to wear to have access to *more* expensive stuff, which they then sell, giving the money to their poor old mas, and also liberation armies in almost-post-colonial British Africa.

Got it?

:-)

::HUGS:: for good reads and some excellent tea.

Oh, H-P, I send so many sympathies and good thoughts your way. We must combat the Gaaah of it all. ;-)

Heee for your story suggestion! I love the idea of the two of them possibly having met at finishing school in Switzerland and discovered that they love social justice, being clever, and wearing Jean Muir and YSL clothes in equal amounts. They might also do a version of Strangers on a Train, so that Rigg's character only steals in Paris, and Deneuve's character only steals in London....

:-)

Cheers to you, hugs, and good thoughts!

I got my Kindle in June, and have indeed used it as you suggest. I've bought only new books that I would probably have bought in print (or that, in the case of George RR Martin, in print would have been too heavy to hold without a reading stand or attentive assistant). I've also bought books that were special offers on Tor, etc., and one or two that I wouldn't have bought because I needed something to read right at the moment (that last one is the pernicious temptation). I've found that Kindle is a godsend for traveling, but very frustrating in book clubs. It helps a lot that you can now get library books via Kindle--otherwise I wouldn't be using it so much.

Traveling is definitely Kindle-time -- since I always go to the Central Plains at Christmas, the new Kindle will be good for holiday equanimity. ;-) Just from a quick search or two, however, it's clear that a lot of the books I'm interested in aren't available digitally anyway. Just as well!

Cheers and a good Sunday to you.

Also, if your Kindle allows you to read PDFs, a fabulous way to read downloaded fic and knitting patterns. ;-D

Happy short week and many thanks for the always fabulous links!

Thanks, ALH -- I have to figure out a way to make PDFs of downloaded fiction, yes. :-)

Cheers! Hugs! Happy beginning of the week!
