long time, no see!

Dang it. I royally suck at updating this thing. Oh well, what's life if not for second chances?

Anyways, I'm home from school now. Super excited that this semester is over. Classes were pretty ridiculous. I'm kind of annoyed that I'm going to be home all summer (mostly because so many of my friends are off in exciting places doing exciting things, and I'm not), but I'll be okay. Durham can be pretty awesome.

My GRADES are here! How thrilling:
Linguistics: B+
Biopsychology: A
Anatomy & Physiology: B
Organic Chemistry II: B
Organic Chemistry Lab: B

Could have been better, I guess, but people don't seem to understand how HARD science classes are. I get so angry when my friends are like, "Oh, I made all A's this semester!" and I'm like "Good for you, HISTORY MAJOR. I'm sure that 5 page final paper you had to write was really tough." But whatever. I suppose it was my own decision to be pre-med and all. Still, I was pretty excited about that orgo grade. A whole letter grade improvement from last semester! And now I never have to take organic chemistry again! What a relief. Although I couldn't sell back my $100 book, because my orgo teacher is RETIRING and he WROTE THE BOOK so the bookstores wont buy it back. Bitches. Now I suppose I can have a 10 pound reminder (not a joke, the book really is that heavy) of this horrific course for the rest of my life. Huzzah?

Summertime life is pretty wonderful, though. I love just hanging around the house, watching ER reruns. That is, if I'm up early enough to catch them - I didn't wake up today until 2:00! Whoops. I don't think I've ever slept in that late in my life. I think my room is too dark and my bed too comfy.

I do have big plans for the rest of the summer, I promise. I start working at the lab next week (I wasn't going to, but I realized I have incredibly flexible hours there, plus it pays well), I'm shadowing a surgeon at my mom's hospital in July (SO EXCITED), I'm going to New York the first week of July, and I might work as a "standardized patient" - one of those people who pretends to be ill so medical students can diagnose you. Acting AND medicine, what could be better? I am taking one summer class - calculus, ugh - which starts on Tuesday. It's only 5 weeks though. I figure it will be incredibly painful, but it sure beats a whole semester of that crap. We'll see how it goes.

Well, I'm off to make some plans for the evening. Hope everyone did something nice for their moms today!
