TweetThe day began beautifully. Everyone readied themselves. The sun was shining and I was feeling lucky for this wonderful day. I thank God everyday I wake up with good health. I have never been more grateful.
I had a fine day at work. I got to manipulate some files in Photoshop and upload some others to the system. I chatted it up with my co-worker and fellow blogger about BlogHer. Then, I began my weekend.
We had sushi for dinner and followed it up with some dog toys for our puppies. When we got home, we discovered that America, Allie’s American Girl doll had been un-stuffed about the torso. Allie immediately began crying. While I wanted to say, “SEE, T H I S is why we do not leave our toys in the living room with puppies.” I felt terrible for her. America is her very favorite of all her toys. I do not think I have ever seen my child so sad in her entire five and a half years.

I did what any good parent would do. I packed her up and sent a check for $36.95 to the American Girl Doll Hospital in Anaheim where they will give her a new torso, brush her hair, clean her up, give her a hospital gown and hospital bracelet, and ship her back good as new.
Did you know there is a doll hospital? I filled out the “doll hospital admission forms” and everything. You can replace the head, reattach limbs, torso, and head, AND for $14, have her ears pierced if they are not already. I am sure America Lohr will be in good hands over the next two weeks, while she recovers from her torso transplant.

Allison was angry with Layla. Any chewing, we know, is Layla. They are puppies and we cannot leave dolls around them.
We debated taking them for a walk or going to the dog park. We chose the dog park and they were both excited to go. There was much leaping,
barking, and licking. They were happy.
We were there for about ten minutes or so and saw some familiar dogs that frequent the park. Obi, our male Lab walked up to another dog that was chewing on a ball and the next thing I knew, there was growling and crying. Obi ran away and then I realized there was blood streaming down his nose. I could not tell if the blood was coming out of his nose and mouth too.
The blood. There was so much of it. I nearly threw up. Evidently, you do not want me around in times of crisis. I was beginning to lose my composure.
Mr. Bear told me we needed to go to the pet hospital and before I could get any information from the dog owner, we were en route. There was blood gushing all over Mr. Bear, all over the sidewalk, all over the car, and it was not stopping. I was worried that the bite had punctured his nose and into his sinus.
The emergency pet hospital was incredible. It was clean. The staff was wonderful. They took Obi right in and fixed him up. He had two staples. They said the puncture was deep, yet not into the sinus. With antibiotics, probiotics (At my urging. I am an avid believer in taking probiotics to reset your body after antibiotics. Fodder for another post.) an emergency visit, the treatment of the wound, and everything.

Little Obi is at home and doing fine. America is on her way to the doll hospital. All is right with the world.
Have a great weekend!
