A Breath of Fresh Air

I couldn't tell you the last time i went to a ska show. I think a while ago i promised myself i would never go to one again. I guess it was only partially one though. My initial response to the Halloween show was..WOW I am old. Its like the scene halts for all 7-10 graders. Its the weirdest thing. There was some older kids there but you could tell they all used to be part of it. The first band was amazing because they were dressed as batman characters and they did a staged fight. Waltham was the biggest joke of a band that i have ever seen. As beth put it, apparently the Lead singer missed the memo about the band NOT dressing as a bathroom set. ha. The Unseen left my ears ringing. Their whole set was far too loud and their street punk rythm did not make my ears happy. Lots of people were there that i knew. It was fun seeing everyone again. Kicked in the Head were AMAZING. Them and big D have been playing the past 6 years in this Halloween show. I was so blown away by KITH. They got so so good and they played some of their old STuff. They did this amazing cover of a Janes Addiction song too. When they came out they were dressed as patients of a mental hospital and SKULLY was one of the doctors! I hadn't seen him for about a year. Wow, it was quite the excitement. It was very enjoyable. Big D was amazing too! Paul's still in the band which is real good. The lead singer from Drexel and some other guy dressed up as HUGE letter D's and danced around the stage and crowd surfed. It was so very funny especially since they were drunk while they were doing it. The weirdest thing happened too, the music go to me i guess you could say and i had lost Jesse and Bobbo by that point so i just let go..you know? I was dancing and jumping and it just felt like such a release. I felt so amazing after that show was over. I was doing fine really, but it was nice to get a taste of my past and know that it is not totally behind me yet, and if it is- i can always go back to it. It was fun sharing it with all new people too.
It was most certainly a breath of fresh air.
