Reasons to Become an Instructor

Here's a compliation of reasons from a number of instructors:
It puts me in a leadership role every day! Getting people excited and comfortable in a fitness routine, and seeing the joy across the face of students when they have a successful workout.
Funny reasons...
1. Captive Audience to listen to me sing 2. I get to wear a microphone like Madonna 3. The Millions of Dollars in Product Endorsements!
Funny But real Reasons
1. Bad Set at Jazzercise still beats the Best Day at my "real" job. 2. The students "Love" "their" instructor... Can you feel the love? 3. When it's your job, you're never too busy to work out!
#1. It gives you so much confidence
#2. You get to hang out with the cool kids
#3. You are never bored
#4. Duh......you will always have an awesome bod
Because you will get feedback from students who thank you for helping them to achieve goals...whether it be weight, endurance, bone density, blood pressure, self esteem or flexibility improvements...or all of the above...and that is just so rewarding.
Because we are forced to exercise on a regular basis...there is just no way that exercise will be bumped out of our routine by the other demands of the day, and thus we feel better physically and mentally.
Because putting together a set of your favorite songs to sing and dance to is just a lot of fun...and then to see a room full of students enjoying it as much as you, makes you feel timeless.
Because you will develop relationships with people that you may have nothing more in common with other than the fact that you like to move to music and those relationships will enrich your life.
Officially: It's an opportunity to help others....and do something good for myself at the same time.
Unofficially: It's the only place where people will actually listen to me and do what I ask them to.

Officially: Educational benefits ~ I love learning what muscles work with different moves and modifying moves for a variety of intensity and resistance.
Unofficially: Pushes me to do every move correctly; no slacking allowed when you're standing in front of your students!
* ~ *
Officially: Ensures that I stick with a fitness program.
Unofficially: No excuses and little opportunity for missing/skipping classes.
* ~ *
Officially: Provides a creative outlet for me through the dance and performance.
Unofficially: I can re-live my days of figure skating (since I'm so awful on skates now!!)
I became an Instructor because:
Every time I took a class as a student, I left feeling 1,000 times better than I had when I arrived. Jazzercise was there for me during one of the toughest times in my life, making it possible for me to get up in the morning and face the day...I wanted to commit my life to that partnership. I knew that if I became an instructor, I would stay active and healthy forever, and that excuses could no longer threaten my goals.
I love being an Instructor because:
Feeling great and looking great are one and the same to me now. Interacting with so many wonderful people fills me up inside. I feel like I am helping people in a very fundamental way, and that has given me a sense of purpose that extends beyond my own life and family. When I look in the mirror, I can't believe that those muscles are actually mine!
Jazzercise has taught me:
Not to take myself too seriously. That perfect posture makes you look ten pounds lighter, and feel ten feet taller. That a good, loud, pumping beat can shake the blues out of just about anyone. That true beauty is not only skin deep, rather, it radiates out from one's "core." That it is very ladylike to lift heavy objects and to sweat. That I can do anything.

Did you Google this for me? Wow! Thanks! I'm going to take tomorrow 'off' and see if my bod reacts better on Wednesday. I won't make any snap decisions.

Hello,
I found your blog through a Google search. I've been Jazzercising for 24 years; the first 12 as a student, then as an instructor and now as a center owner. If your instructor is encouraging you to go through workshop, it's because she sees your potential. Will it be challenging? Yes! However, you can see there are many, many reasons to become an instructor.
Go for it! Get off the floor and on the stage. The world looks very different when you are on stage.

Well, I certainly appreciate you taking the time to give me all those reasons to go through with it! I am just plain sore right now. I have such a hard time hopping as much as I need to. I feel like I'm not ready. I keep trying and trying. I have until April so I suppose practice makes perfect.
I thought you were one of my long-time friends! I really appreciate your comment! I guess you found me for a reason!
