Oh dear the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. I only snickered my way through two of four episodes yet, but, Mr. Darcy! He spends 90 % of his screentime looming in the background, y so serious? He's like a regency-era Nosferatu. And then, out of nowhere, he jumps into the lake. I thought he'd be wearing fewer clothes for that, tbh.
It also confirms my opinion that the gentry had nothing to do, ever. Popular pastimes include picking flours and carrying them around in baskets, some light embroidery, some light playing the piano, some light written correspondence, taking walks in the countryside, gavotting with regency-era Nosferatus, reciting marriage proposals, refusing marriage proposals, and paying long visits to even richer relatives where they stay for weeks on end and do more of the same. Also, there's some light hunting and lake-jumping for the gents. BBC mini series will ultimately breed small socialists y/n
Also, they're so charmingly shameless about who has how much money XD
