friends are great

It's really great when you see someone you haven't seen in years and it feels like there was no time lost.  I mean, clearly you've grown and changed and had experiences that have shaped who you are now - but the friendship is still as natural as ever.

Jess, one of my best friends from high school came up this weekend with her boyfriend Travis.  They moved to NYC in December, but our schedules hadn't aligned until now.  We had so much fun.  They satisfied the bohemian hippy side of me very nicely :-).

Yesterday they came with Libby, John and I to the closing performance of my show (Grand Night).  Then we came home and made a delicious pasta dinner, complete with some very tasty (and strong) drinks.  Then we discussed the world, love, politics, high school and everything in between.  Today we went exploring and found a little ice skating pond at Harvard Law School.  It was open, and there were skates in a wooden foot locker right there!  It was so random and delightful.  I mean I stuck by the wall the entire time, but whatever.  It was exactly what an adventurous romp through Cambridge should be.  Then we came home and watched Wall-e, and then once Stephen came home (he missed the fun because he was in Maine over the weekend) we made some amazing Mexican food for dinner.  Super fun.

In other news, my roommates Libby and John got engaged this past week, so that was pretty exciting!  It's a really crazy time in life - so many of my friends are engaged or married.  Sometimes I feel like I'm behind the ball, but I know that's silly.  There is no ball, no timeline, what's important is what is right for you/your particular relationship.  I just have to remind myself of that when I browse Libby's bridal magazines, because those satisfy the girly, daydreamy side of me a little too well sometimes ;-).
