A Very Special DitL

Dec 18, 2011 01:02

Who: Bruce Stildyne and YOU
What: That Awkward Moment when you come out via a newspaper article rather than talk to people
Where: All over town (and open to network messages)
When: Sunday of the Very Special Breach
Warnings: Massive cliche and occasional hallmark-level hamfistedness.

Stildyne had been up early to buy his own copy of the Sunday paper, leaving the Hoffman family's delivery intact. He snipped the clunkily written coming-out article, frowning at how real it looked in print, and ran it through the Hoffman family scanner to post on the network, completely without comment.

He was hardly expecting a rush of homophobic sentiment-- that would have been ridiculous, given some of the town's more prestigious citizens-- but he was expecting things to be... well, different. He wasn't like any gay men he'd met yet. Not flamboyant, not domestic, not particularly well read or well dressed, and still not a liberal. And he'd spent a long time in that closet; he was bound to feel a little cramped and dusty when he came out.
