The tranquilizer gun in his hand can take down a human and leave them twitching on the floor. But they'll recover without a deathtoll. The aspirin solution mixed into it? Will kill a Time Lord. He's been following Narvin for a while. He needs to catch him before he makes a worse mistake.
He doesn't even know about who he's hurt already.
Kay turns into one of the corridors from the stairewell, gun up and reared to go.]

When he sees a new alien emerging from the stairwell, he initially thinks that this one will be as easy dealt with as the others. Then he feels the smooth, impenetrable wall where the alien's mind should be and he's unnerved enough that he hesitates for a split second, no movement to attack or escape, no commands for Harris, just a vain attempt to psychically scale that wall.]
That's impossible. [He mutters. A telepath shielding himself would create a more organic structure. This was different. Unnatural. It must be the work of the Technologists, some sort of artificial block.]

He's on point, Narvinektralonum slightly behind him, gripping his arm. He hears the stranger's approach before he sees him, though only barely. Whoever it is, they're concealing their footsteps, and only the silence of the corridors lets him hear it. When the man turns the corridor and faces them, he feels his master's confidence waver, only for a second, but it's enough. He steps forward, automatically putting himself between the newcomer and the Gallifryean, even without the command. Narvinektralonum's control has insinuated itself enough that he's doing what he would want him to do even without being ordered to do it.]Turn back now or you'll die ( ... )

He has to remind himself this is not some hostile thing. That it is Narvin still there and he's going to feel the repercussions of whatever he does. And this poor guy, whoever he was, is a victim.]
Son, I suggest you step aside. [He'd bother to tell him that, but Kay isn't even slowing down, and he's heading at them with completely doubtless confidence.]

Never. [His face is glazed and dull despite his defiant words, but the hostility in his posture is very real. There won't be any toying with this one - he can feel Narvinektralonum's will touching his again, commanding him to dispatch the old man, and quickly. He pulls the M16 from his back, stripped and reassembled after his fight with the monster, and levels it at Kay with every intention of blowing his head off.]

When he's back in his normal state of mind, he'll recall how shitty it was when the Elsidian took over his mind and used him against the current Elle. How he would have killed her were it not for a gut reaction to her scanner flash.
But now he just has to act.
He flicks out the knife, but he's not going to use it on Harris. Instead he throws it at Narvin, while bringing his other hand around to try an catch Harris's knife-wielding arm by the wrist.]

Physically, the damage is minimal. But the pain that shoots from his shoulder down his whole body is unlike anything the aristocrat has experienced before. He screams and falls against the wall to keep himself upright, his vision greying. His psychic control has snapped with the shock, and he scrambles to try to regain it. He attempts to pull the knife out but screams again before he's moved it more than a centimeter. The pain leaves him sick and barely conscious.]

Then a tremor passes through the sergeant - not through his body, but through his mind - as Narvinektralonum's control is momentarily disrupted by that surge of pain he's experiencing. The sensation's enough to stop Harris right where he is - he freezes up like a computer that just crashed, his subconscious temporarily stunned by the sudden loosing of the Gallifryean's control. He doesn't loose his grip on his blade, but his furious struggle to plunge it into the old man's chest is halted.]
