Who: Toshiko Sato & Luke Cage
When: Roughly present-dated; towards the end of the flood
Where: Toshiko's cabin plus elements of 'random hallways'
Warnings: YES. Violence, allusions to sexual violence, character death
Note: Assumes a conversation between BatTim and Luke that never actually happened (with Ari's permission) so don't go looking for it. :V
Toshiko had spent most of the flood being quiet, and watchful - looking out for her Inmate and planning to limit damage where possible. Luke Cage had been nagging at the back of her mind since his update at the flood's beginning - her counterpart's files hadn't understated how violent and irrational he could be. Whatever had happened to Parker after their discussion - it made her sick to think about it. She had been too late to see it unfold, had gone looking for her friend, found nothing and could only hope for the best even though she knew it was futile.
She hadn't been late in catching a ferocious argument between Tim and Luke that had ended with some particularly vicious threats. And she wasn't going to let it happen again. If Luke won that fight, Tim would be torn apart - and if Tim won (the only way he could possibly win) then the flood would end (in days? Hours?) and he would have to come back to himself with blood on his hands. She had pieced together enough about him to know exactly how he would feel about that.
But she wouldn't. Torchwood, at least, had taught her to do what was necessary.
Tim's cabin was on the first level, down the hall from her own - she could only assume that Luke was coming from his cabin on the eighth. It was easy enough to wander out onto the stairwell, very slowly meandering her way down so as not to give the impression she was waiting for someone.
