Eames approached Una's cabin with a casual stride. Although he wasn't actually worried about the situation, Tim's ousting of some of the people had him curious and the forger was always eager to cause trouble. He might kill them, he might not. It depended very little on what they had allegedly done and more on how they would react now.

He offered a wide smile to his present companion as he slid his left hand across beneath his jacket to withdraw the gun that was holstered there. It was cocked back and ready to go as he paused on the opposite side of the door, lifting his eyes to regard Narvin and giving a light nod of his head to encourage the other man to go first. Eames never liked to lead the charge; he preferred to let others act as the front line.

Narvin, too, preferred someone else to be first in the line of fire, between him and the potential threat, but if the Human couldn't step up to the task, Narvin would. He drew his staser and charged it, set to kill. If they surrendered quickly he might spare them, although after the previous day's abysmal failure with Rassilon, he was eager to vent his simmering resentment.

But so long as he got access to Una's time machine, he didn't care what became of her or O'Brien.

Knocking would only give them warning, time to prepare. So he stepped to the door, kicked it open, and went in with his staser held before him.

Una wasn't the type of woman to scream. What she did do was immediately leap between O'Brien and the invaders, her trusty .45 Smith & Wesson at the ready.

"Not another step if you please, gentlemen."

Eames followed Narvin just inside the doorway, casting his eyes around the hall. Then he closed the door behind them to give them some semblance of privacy. Really, he was primarily letting Narvin take the lead on this because the other man seemed to have a better idea of what was going on. He simply smiled at Una's threat, holding his gun but not bothering to aim at them.

"Put your weapon down and come along quietly to Zero, and I promise you'll come to no harm." It wasn't a promise he could guarantee. He wouldn't shoot them if they surrendered, but given all the other wardens and their restless mood, he couldn't honestly say Persson and O'Brien come to no harm. Honesty was never one of his virtues, however.

"Forgive me if I'm not feeling very trusting right now," she said. "Or ever, when it comes to you, Narvin." She didn't lower her gun. "Regardless of what my inmate says, we aren't going anywhere, and you can both just kindly piss right off."

The forger lifted his eyebrows. "We've got a fighter here."

Then he laughed at her calm, recognizing her experience for what it was, at least to some extent.

"Unfortunately for you both, O'Brien, so would I, given the right incentive," Eames replied with the same nonchalance before proceeding to lean back on one of Una's walls. He flicked a poker chip from nowhere to spin around the fingers of his right hand while his left still held his gun. The man could lift, aim, and shoot faster than many and, although he knew that meant Una could shoot him first, it would mean a bigger risk of her being shot by Narvin than if she risked shooting Narvin first.

"Indeed. But two against one is bad odds. Surely she knows that." Said as if Una weren't right in front of them.

Step aside, O'Brien," Narvin had no compunctions about shooting O'Brien as well, but he wanted Una to feel abandoned, alone, without allies, even one as wretched as O'Brien.

"Do you really want to find out how quickly I can even the odds, gentlemen?" she asked. She was no longer sure, now, if she was still trying to play her role or whether she'd simply given up all pretence; at a time like this, the two personae seemed nearly indistinguishable.

"And don't you dare touch him, you two."

"I think she might mean it," Eames mused to Narvin, still with the same demeaning attitude that the other woman was subhuman in some way. He didn't actually view her that way, but he could keep a friendly conversation as well as the best of them.

The forger finally straightened off of the wall and took a half step forward as he raised his gun to point directly at Una. The poker chip disappeared from his right hand again and his eyes never left the woman's. "I believe you wanted him to step aside, didn't you? Now's as good a time as any to encourage him."

the flood better end soon, or I think there's going to be a shoot out timesbureaucrat August 25 2011, 21:56:57 UTC
"I'm disappointed in you, O'Brien. I thought you at least understood self-preservation."

Then his expression hardened. Enough of this. It was clear that Miss Persson wouldn't surrender and that O'Brien--contrary to his expectations--wasn't going to take the opportunity to slink off and save his own skin. It was time to just shoot them both and let them enjoy the death toll in Zero.

I suggest O'Brien tries for a punch on his next tag just as the flood ends. :) mrs_persson August 25 2011, 21:59:33 UTC
Well, this was going south fast.

"Run, O'Brien," she said in a low voice. "I'll keep these two clowns occupied."
