Parker had been dreaming the last she remembered. She had been dreaming of good things and not nightmares and had been in her bed with Paddy warm next to her. The sounds of the infirmary came upon her first. The world was filled with voices and beeping and steady murmurs. She twitched and flicked slightly, still not ready to be awake. Below her closed eyelids, the room was filled with a brightness, and she groaned as she flipped over to her side. "Turn the fucking light off." The words were grumbled and her face was tight with anger as she tried to reach out and poke Paddy into doing it.
Little things were coming to her now. The sheets sucked. They were rough and not satin and the blanket was thin and cool and where the hell was the lump of warmth anyway? Parker did not fucking approve of this bullshit.
