Late Afternoon: Isaac's room notarrowette January 15 2011, 17:35:39 UTC
[Oh hi there, inmate. Your warden is knocking on your door.]

[Isaac...never expects anyone. Even wardens, these days, so Cissie will have to forgive his surprised expression when he opens the door. There's also wet paint on his hands, and no, he's not going to wash it off. Just wipe it off on his jeans.:|]

Uh--Hey. I wasn't expecting you.

[Cissie isn't surprised by his surprise, really. She knows she hasn't been very attentive or responsible as his warden so far, which is part of why she's here. ...Wiping wet paint on his jeans is a little endearing though. Oh, Isaac. She smiles a little.]

Hi. I know, sorry. ...Do you mind of I come in for a minute?

[Isaac shoots a glance over his shoulder before he answers. His room isn't necessarily messy, but it's definitely cluttered to the point where there isn't much room to walk. It's all canvases and two easels that he's "borrowed" from the art room. Really, he'll tidy it up eventually. After some slight hesitation, he opens the door wider and steps aside to let Cissie through. ]

You're more than welcome if you can find somewhere to stand or sit.

Thanks. [The mess doesn't bother her; she lived in an all girls' boarding school--there's no way his mess can be worse than some of her friends' there. Still, the sheer quantity of paintings is impressive. She looks at some of the paintings, smiling--he's kind of incredible. She comes in and stands awkwardly for a moment, wondering if she should have gave him warning before showing up. May as well start with the easiest thing:]

So, I talked with Iroh and he said they'd be happy to have help for the lunch shift, if you're still interested.

[ Whether it bothers them or not, visitors always make Isaac feel self-conscious, and now he finds himself trying to squeeze just a little bit more space out of the cabin by moving the canvases further into the corner. It also might have to do with giving himself something else to do than just talk, but Cissie still has his full attention. ]

I am still interested. Thank you. And you're feeling better?

[She nods, pausing to look more closely at one of the paintings, smiling a little at what she sees. Isaac's files mentioned his paintings, of course, but nothing written about them really did them justice. She glances back at him, reminding herself why she came.]

I am, yeah. ...I want to apologize. Between that coma and now all of this, [she waves a hand to indicate the week], I haven't really been at my best. I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you, or that I'm going anywhere, because I don't plan to.

It's--alright.

[There's a noticeable hesitation in his words and he lingers in the corner for just a little too long. Isaac is aware of the fact that none of the things that have happened are really Cissie's fault, but the absence has been a little disheartening after his past warden situations.]

It's the Barge. I can't blame any of it on you. I'm not even sure I can blame any of it on the Admiral after that Aztec take-over.

[Cissie catches that hesitation, and it really just confirms that coming over instead of just sending a message was the right move.]

It's not... all the Barge, though. I'm usually better at dealing with the things this place throws at us.

[She pauses before she continues, dropping her eyes to one of the paintings.]

Coyolxauhqui kept me and Martha Jones with her, to protect us, I guess. My friend Molly and Snape and a few other people came to try to help up and get to her--stop her--but Persephone told her their plans. So when they came, the Aztecs were waiting for them, and Martha and I got out, just in time to see... To see them cut off their heads. I kind of snapped after, I guess.

[There's only more hesitation to follow, especially after Cissie's explanation for her absence. Isaac can relate when it comes to seeing horrifying things. He painted his own death, after all, and watched someone he loved die right in front of him. Something about it just hits close to home, and he responds quietly.]

I'm sorry. That's--that's terrible.

[He pauses, running his fingers lightly over the edges of the paintings. He desperately wants to say something more. If not something comforting, at least something helpful. After a hard swallow, he continues with the only thing he can think to add ( ... )
