Paddy had, after all, managed to acquire himself some drugs with the help of Snoop and the others (he was more inclined just to think of it between the two gangsters, after all). The difficulty with carrying a lot of drugs around was that there was not only the risk of arrest, but also a massive temptation, right in his pocket. He had successfully resisted it for quite a while, determined not to let Snoop down, not to let himself be a damn junkie, but eventually, he couldn't keep it up.

He'd left them, knowing that he didn't want to be a burden on anyone, and managed to find an empty back street, which was the best he could do at this point. He'd tried a public toilet, but unsurprisingly, there were enough uv lights to make his life very difficult, and it might have been a long time, but he wasn't desperate enough to risk that. The cold, though? He didn't think he had much choice ( ... )

Uhura felt, at the same time, a wave of unyielding fury and overwhelming compassion. So much that it actually gave her pause. She could only stare for a moment, her eyes taking in the scene. And then she noticed the gun.

She pulled out her phaser, which she kept concealed at her hip the whole time at port, and pointed it towards him, glad that they were not able to be seen in this angle from the street.

"Do not shoot," she told him and quickly moved to the side, reaching out to try and take the gun from him with her free hand. Priorities. Priorities. She had to get him unarmed...and then see what EXACTLY he had done to himself.

This was ridiculous.

He gave her a hard look down the barrel of his gun and hoped that she wouldn't notice it wasn't loaded. Paddy knew if it came to a standoff here, he'd lose, but his head hadn't quite got around that fact yet. His head was still busy processing opiates.

So, there was a moment where he gripped the gun harder and curled his fingers around the trigger, mainly for the sensation of security more than anything. But he quickly realised he was about to lose this particular battle very quickly, so he tried, once again, to tell her, "Just fuck off and nobody gets shot, right?", but it had less conviction than he really wanted. A lot less.

Uhura did not want this to end in violence, but it was all she had left. "If you shoot me, Paddy, the whole of the barge will come down on you and I will still end up knocking you out." She angled herself away from the gun so that it wouldn't hit her, and, again, tried to pull it away.

"You are already in enough trouble, Paddy. Why add more?"
