"Yes, Comrade I'm-- I'm fine. I just got dizzy." Prefect felt kind of embarrassed about having his little sit down in front of Harvey, so fighting for some leverage, he carefully began pulling himself up and shifting back onto the bed.
Once he was stable, he gave Harvey a slightly guilty look, "He shot Sam, Harvey. I know I should have just left, but... he shot Sam."
I FORGIVE YOU. I'm cool like that :PbuywithmeJuly 6 2009, 21:50:42 UTC
Prefect shifted back onto his mattress carefully, giving Harvey a sidelong look, before shrugging slightly, "Yeah, Sam kind of has a lot of bad luck." They kind of both did, if he was honest. Shifting backwards a little further on the bed, he finally lay back down, staring at the ceiling thoughtfully,
"So the riot didn't work?" He asked, before turning his head ever so slightly, "How did the wardens take it?"
Prefect frowned and rolled onto his side. "I thought you had to be dead to become an inmate?" He pointed out, shifting so there was enough space for Harvey to sit comfortably on the bed.
"Besides, won't that just confirm what they're saying already? That the wardens are just as bad as the rest of them?" Prefect was careful not to identify himself with the inmates. He didn't like the inmates, and despite beginning to waiver in his ability to function within the Factory, he still knew that he was a part of that, and not this.
Prefect gave a slight hum, staring into space for a minute or two, before returning his gaze up to Harvey. "Do you think they'd ever treat you like one of them? If you graduated?" He asked. Okay, so there was this weird, unsubstantiated paranoia recurring in his mind right now, where Harvey graduating was beginning to loom as an imminent date associated with Harvey leaving, or Harvey changing, or Harvey magically transforming into some kind of completely different, slight disturbing anti-Harv, with the wrong side of his face burned off and no time for Prefect anymore.
And he'd get an inmate. What if Harveys inmate didn't like him? Would Harvey stop liking him as well? Prefect was quietly nursing a whole host of assorted worries regarding his friends new found potential to graduate.
What if? Nick Naylor was some kind of terrible graduated futuristic Harvey Dent who had gone back in time and forgotten all about him? This was obviously a valid concern for Prefect.
