I haven't written in this thing in so long! But you know what? I have been busy and productive and just doing stuff, and stuff has been crazy, and yeahhh... let's go through a run-down of my life since my last update, shall we?
-London was amazing! I absolutely enjoyed my time there! Granted, I was on my own for a lot of it, but I got to explore a lot around the city. There is so much to do in London, and I took in so many of the sights that you may expect to see, and then managed to hit up a lot of the museums that were free. The museums there are awesome!!! There's so much actually to do and see in them, because a lot of them are interactive, and there's also so much history to take in at all the museums. I definitely took a picture of the Rosetta Stone when I saw it at the British Museum... =) But of course, I had such a great time hanging out with Cassy and Michelle. They both showed me a great time, and I am so appreciative that they gave their time and energy to host me, even for a week. So, yeah, it's a great city, but I would never live there... it's always moving, the Tube trains can get pretty overcrowded at rush hour, I still can't get used to how traffic goes in the opposite direction from what I am used to, lots of stuff is expensive (two dollars to the pound!), and Londoners are kinda rude actually... But, I still had a great time! I'm definitely gonna go back in the future.
-Then there was coming back... that was a bit problematic. To keep it short, due to weather-related issues, my plane from London landed late in Amsterdam, and I ended up missing my connection to Washington. I walked from one person to another to get all my issues sorted out at that airport, and eventually, I had to spend the night at a hotel in Amsterdam. Not what I was expecting. So, I land in Washington the next day, it's snowing hard, it takes longer to get home, I eat quickly at home and then end up having to leave right soon for campus, and it does take me a while to unpack everything. I get back to campus tired, but I was glad to be back safely.
-And being back on campus has been great! I really enjoy my classes, though they are very reading-heavy. I'm getting through them, though. My involvement on-campus has also skyrocketed, seemingly. I recently became an official tour guide, which is really cool! I enjoy doing it, and it is a paying job, a plus considering I am saving for my semester in Budapest. I've also become an officer with CCM, I'm modeling and helping out with the BSU Fashion Show, and I joined an intramural soccer team with some of my friends. Maybe I need to tone it down a bit... ; )
-This past weekend, I was able to attend the Mount 2007 retreat with a few people from McDaniel, and I even saw the awesome people from youth group there. It really was a great retreat! Granted, a lot of things were different and changed, but I really liked the messages from the talks, and after being prayed over at adoration, the one important thing that kept running through my mind was that I need God. There is no doubt in my mind that He is my savior and that He is the one constant in my life. My prayer life definitely needed that reminder.
-Sadness has also hit the Hispanic community at my church, Our Lady of Sorrows in Takoma Park. As some of you may have heard on the news, a young 25-year-old woman named Sintia Mesa went missing and then was found dead in the trunk of her own car in Baltimore after a couple of days. Sintia was a member of my church, along with the rest of her loving family, and I have basically known her since I was born. This was a terrible thing that happened, and it is still being investigated. I'm saddened that I couldn't go to the funeral or anything, and also with the ultimate fact that she will just not be there to greet me and ask me how college is going, every time I go to church there when I go home. If you are reading this, please pray for the soul of Sintia, for her family, and for justice to come to her memory. Thank you.
Um, I do think that's a lot to put in one entry, with such a wide range of emotion as well. I'm just going to end it here. Another entry will come soon, this I promise. Also, just puttin it out there, I will be going home this weekend. =)
God bless, and please, take care of yourself.
